    @custom90gt @jclausius

Do you know what's the difference between Anti-Glare and Anti-Reflection?

I personally hate Anti-Glare screens because they are dull so I immediately chose the next option but now I think of it, they sound the same to me. I hope that Anti Reflection isn't that dull looking washed out screen like the ones we see on recent laptops

Humm good catch, I would guess that it's the coated screen but now they are calling it anti-reflective. $100 seems a little steep for touch/glossy to me, but I'm cheap, lol...

I'm still confused, so is the choice that I made (the 2nd one / anti-reflective) the glossy screen? I want glossy not matte

Yes the touch is glossy; non-touch is matte finish.

Intel will be releasing the H series Tiger Lake processors in the future, you'll see a new XPS 15 and 17 after that.

No news about an XPS 15 or 17 refresh yet. The XPS 13 refresh was tweeted a week ago by a few tech sites that's how I got to know about this as I was checking daily and saw it today.

Ah ha ha ha. I am coming from a content creation side of things where the 4k will be helpful in photogrpahy and videography.

I dunno about anything anymore. I am tip toe'ing around getting a MBP 13. eeeek.

I ordered two machines, one for me with Linux (Developer's Edition) and one for my mom with Windows 10 Pro. Both with i5s for better thermals

But anyone noticed that significant bump in RAM Speed with the new Tiger Lake? [IMG]

Cool, I'm seriously looking at the new arm chipped Macs as I just want everything to work together. I'm sick of not having any compatibility with your phone, etc. I want my full messaging on my desktop, laptop, tablet and phone. I want to share my photos without issue with my wife and family, I want to just have everything work like I want it to. Windows began to give me that but failed. I'm holding off until after the arm chipped Macs are announced. But I think I'm going to get a mbp, iMac for my desk and go from there.

    Why wouldn't you do 4K?

My wife, who lives in the AppleVerse (iPad, iPhone, iWatch, etc) has an XPW 13 2-in-1, and LOVES it. As much as she loves all things Apple, she doesn't like their laptops, mainly the opsys. She really likes the touch screen ability of the XPS 13, the keyboard, the size. Oddly, she rarely uses it in tablet mode, preferring her iPad for that.

    1) Had a 4K Dell XPS 9750 last year, while the screen was great to look at especially when watching movies, stuff that don't scale well made the laptop unusable for me. Like my Nero Platinum Suite would look all blurry or with misaligned buttons, My HP Printer software wouldn't scale at all so you wouldn't be able to see anything at all, and a few other apps as well, heck even the popular VLC media player doesn't play nice with the crappy Windows DPI Scaling it was having blurry control buttons as if my resolution was set to a non-native resolution.

    I can't deal with this, I am a perfectionist.

    2) How does anyone in his right mind buy a 4K screen laptop?

Speaking of Apple, the new ultraportables do remind me of the now-discontinued 12” MacBooks. The keyboard layout looks practically identical.

I ordered 2 machines from HIDevolution (because I can't order from Dell directly in Dubai and even though I work for them, I'm still a customer :)

Sounds like you didnt know how to use/configure Windows 10 properly. All those scaling issues are fixed, since how long? 2 years or so. all scaling incompatible apps could be opened via dpi scaling options. The blurriness was long fixed since 1803 or so maybe. Looking at your 4k on a laptop rage post, which is from 2015, obviously that's long time ago. 4k on laptop on latest Windows 10 is fine. The new Intel Xe GPUs also should handle it way better I guess than the crappy """UHD"""630.

Also for this thread: 4 cores in 2020 close to 2021 for a $1500-2000 laptop, no thank you. See you with 12/13th gen Intel.

It was "claimed" to be fixed and this settings does absolutely NOTHING to fix problems with programs that do not play with scaling:

    2020-10-06_081237.png

But no I guess you're right I don't know how to use a computer , I don't know who made all these guides:

Windows 10 Tweaks and Fixes (Index post #1)
    Windows 10 Clean Installation Guide
    Macrium Reflect Installation/Usage Guide

Some programs due to poor programming perhaps simply don't play well with scaling, you can't change that.

As for your comment about the CPU, there were 2 choices, the 4 core or the 6 core, since this will be a light work laptop I specifically chose the 4 core to mitigate any overheating issues and also will have it repasted with PHOBYA NanoGrease Extreme Thermal compound, I don't need anything faster, my work only involves using a web browser. It's not about the year 2021 it's about what one needs. [IMG]

From your post, sadly I see you still dont know how to use DPI scaling workaround properly under Windows 10 to this day. The correct way to fix (old) blurry DPI scaling apps is to use this for each exe file:

This is for Photoshop CS 5.1 which doesnt support the DPI scaling with the system extended overwrite it works fine and is not blurry anymore. Same for lots of other apps I use for example Netbeans 8, or some Java apps.

Also not sure what you mean with 6core, Tiger Lake just has 4 core because of all the issues Intel still has producing them.

I saw that, why jump over i8??? Maybe because they were so late coming out with the i8 and it was hurting sales? Dell XPS-13 laptops don't have any yet... but I see the XPS 15-17 do and man are they expensive at $2,500+
    https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/del...aptops/intel-core-i9?appliedRefinements=14158

Looks like I'll be waiting for prices to come down the next two years. My XPS is still doing great.

I think you're missing the point. i3, i5, i7, i9 are naming conventions. Ford doesn't have a Mustang 1, mustang 2, mustang 3, etc. It's how they tier the processor.

    @kojack @jclausius @custom90gt

So after a long wait, my XPS 13 Developer Edition arrived at our HQ and as the production team were unpacking it to begin the Arabic Language Keyboard engravement that I requested, they discovered that Dell sent the wrong keyboard, they sent me an English/French keyboard instead of an English/US Keyboard  So I asked them to return the laptop to Dell.

Now checking the online configurator, it says BLACK English Keyboard at the bottom of the page even though I selected Arctic White color so I'm cancelling the entire order. I don't want no more surprises.

...if i, or any of my other friends wanna shop for an INTEL based laptop, i would go or advise them to go for 10th Gen IceLake with dGPU of lower power consumption types such as the nVidia MXes if they want graphic performance with low price...

One, it's not a gaming computer, therefore he should not even bother. Two, it's disappointing that it's slower doing video editing compared to last years model.

    These results are pretty bad.

Other reviews are slowly coming in but I can't say I'm too excited about this so far.

Not gonna lie this is the first time an XPS machine has grabbed my attention this much. Been debating for awhile if I want to ditch my iPad and just get a 2 in 1. And Dell having 500 nit screens is a nice selling point if you enjoy using your laptop on your porch.

Definitely disappointed at how much they tried to hype up the Xe graphics on these things, but it’s a step in the right direction.

If you use you ipad on the couch alot, the xps will not replace it as a tablet, it's just to big. However, for a do everything device that you can use to do tablet'y stuff on, at your desk for example, it's awesome. I have it's cheaper older brother and I love the 2 in 1 form factor but I use my ipad and soon to be surface pro x on the couch.
