I just ordered a Studio XPS 13 from the Dell UK Outlet.

I noticed something odd about the spec. The display is listed as White LED (this was a big deal for me and is what I am after) but it also includes a 2MP webcam.

My understanding was that only the CCFL display shipped with the 2MP cam and the LED had a lower res one?

Any idea what's going on there? How can I verify that I have the LED screen when it arrives?

I have a LED screen with 2mp cam as well.

To verify that you have the LED screen goto device manager, right click on your screen, click properties, then details and check the hardware id. (The ID of my screen is SEC5441)

After that you can google the ID and check - and to be absolutely sure, ask dell :)

    Thanks.

Have you verified that it's a 2MP camera yourself?

Strange that our machines would have this hardware combination when it still isn't officially offered on new XPS 13s. I always thought it probably had something to do with the screen casing being thinner.

I'll check the panel number when the machine arrives. Hopefully everything will be fine. I don't really care about the camera at all but I don't want to have to send it back if it's not a LED display.

The camera will only be a 1.3 megapixel one.. I too had this on my order form (2MP camera, WLED screen) but after checking in the Dell Webcam manager my camera would only go up to 1.3 mega pixels - 1280x1024 res)

Hmm, I've never used the webcam before, but now I've tested it and you're right pillowshot. I can't get mine above 1280x1024 either.

I don't really care that its not a 2mp as I don't think I will ever use this webcam anyway. And I'm too lazy to complain, even though I probably should.. This is from my order confirmation:

    "Display : 13.3in WXGA (1280x800) White-LED Display with TrueLife (thinner & brighter)
Camera : Integrated 2.0 Mega Pixel Camera with Facial Recognition Software (Software install, no media)"
