    Hello,

A couple of weeks ago I bought a new XPS 13 laptop and it is fabulous, with a great spec. However... I have noticed that when it is open the base doesn't sit flat on the table, the lower righthand corner, by the arrow keys, is about 2mm off the table, and it rocks as I type. I know picky, but it is quite irritating.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

Yup. Have the exact same issue with my XPS 15. Ive had so many issues with this laptop, flickering screen, keyboard replaced 3 times, swollen battery, WiFi issues etc.

To your issue specifically, if you run your finger along the metal edge of your laptop at the front, you may notice its not even. It's flat on one side and then toward the other end you start to feel a slight edge to the metal part. Essentially it's either warped or just not built straight.

Quality controls on this laptop was non existent. I've bought a HP Spectre 360x 15 as a replacement and will be selling my xps.

I realize that doesn't solve your problem but just calling it as I see it.

I had the same issue with my xps 15, some have suggested bending the chassis which sounded a little extreme.

A technician came to replace the ssd and following this there was no more rock, totally flat, it may therefore be an issue with all the screws not quite being tight. I replaced the wifi card and after this the base is still flat with no rock. It may therefore be worth checking the screws.

First off, thanks for the replies. I couldn't find much out there on XPSs not being quite flat, and it is driving me crazy. Once you notice something like this you can never stop fidgeting with it, like a hole in a tooth :)

I'll contact the place where I bought the laptop and try a couple of their XPSs to see if it is common, or rare. I don't fancy undoing the screws to see if it some torsional twist - I may get bored though ;)

    It spoils a good laptop...

Remove the bottom cover and see if it sits flat.
