I have a 6 day old XPS 9343 that won't boot up, will not go into safe mode either.

The reason I'm looking for help here rather than exchanging it is because this is the second XPS that's doing this to me (first one was exchanged this one).

Is it possible that Bitdefender is causing this issue? On my first one this issue began 3 days after installing the paid version of Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2015. I also installed it on the new one and 4 days after it does the exact same thing.

I get past the Dell logo and then it's just a black screen, though I can see the pointer.

I just can't think of what else would ccause this, I haven't been home so I used it maybe 3 times since bringing it home.

Any idea how I can get into it to take Bitdefender off?

    Thanks :(

    Hi,

I had the same problem once, black screen following the dell logo, with the pointer still visible.
Once booted, try holding the power button for a long time (something like 30 or 45 sec).
    Your PC should reboot.
For me it solved the pb.

    Good luck !

PS : No bitdefender for me btw, so maybe not related
