    Hi there,
I'm very keen to buy a new XPS 1330 but am tempted to wait for one with blu-ray. Does anyone know a likely release date and/or price?
    thanks very much

Probably will come with all the new refreshed XPS models with Montevina, which is supposed to be in a few months.

    In a few months.

With new Centrino 2 models shipping from Sony, HP & others next month, I think it will be in a few weeks or even maybe a few days from now.

u want bluray on a 13.3" screen? (of cours eu can try to use it as a bluray player, but the premium is $500 for M1530, wont be that cheap for m1330 if its coming)

besides, i believe someone tried to put the m1530 bluray drive into the m1330, the drive was taller by a few mms and the slot location was bad... think u need to wait for some company to make a smaler bluray(i believe hearing news that toshiba or some company has announced such a smaller bluray drive, but its going to be a premium)

Maybe, but last I heard dell is kind of behind on Montevina and the XPS refreshes aren't coming for at least a month. Maybe I'm just the one behind with the times :)

Well, the Studio 15's blu-ray player is only a $200 more as opposed to the m1530's $500. They must have found a better way to make them, and Sony's Z model has a blu-ray player, so there must be players small enough. The small ones still might cost a lot more than the ones for the 15" models, though.

They probably use really similar (or probably the same) parts in all the laptops anyway, but they just offer upgrades at different prices for each model. For example the XPS screen upgrade from 1200 x 800 to 1440 x 900 costs £20. For the same upgrade on the studio or inspiron is £70....They will still be the same panels though I bet.

Bluetooth on the Studio is also like £10 where as it is £30 on the XPS 1530 ;)

The studio has a BD-ROM, while the 1530 has a 2x BD- dual layer writer.
