My mom's XPS 1330 just had its backlight give up the ghost and it's of course post warranty, so I'm wondering a couple of things:

    1. How much that repair is going to cost and
    2. Is there a place that is great for this?

Just to talk to dell will, I believe, cost me at this point, so I'm not really game for that, but she's dead in the water right now with the laptop and I'm looking for things I can do.

    Thanks!

Not sure how technical you are, but the cheapest route would be to dismantle the LCD assembly, slide out the burnt CCFL backlight, and put in a replacement. You can get them for about $20.

It could be the nVidia GPU problem and not the CCFL. CCFL lasts a long time.
