As we all know, Nvidia has a fault in their GPU. I talked to dell today and they said the problem isn't much the cooling, its nvidia. Nvidia rather waste over 2000 a month replacing cards than to recall ALL the 8400 and 8600 cards to fix the problem. These cards are over heating due to a flaw design. Is there a card that I can replace it with? I know people have replaced the cards and had no problems anymore with temperatures. But what cards exactly fit?

the nvidia chip is welded into the mainboard, no chance of "switching" it. The best you could do is get a mobo with the intel X3100 and replace the whole thing, however, you would end with a very low profile graphic solution (i wouldn't do it, would just stick to my 8400GS and warranty)

Whats funny is when I played hl2, Speedfan said it was 84C. I feel the bottom, its not even hot. It feels good on my lap, not a prob. Why?

Dell only provides the 8400M GS as a dedicated GPU option, so you can't upgrade to anything else. But 84C isn't that bad, my 1420's 8400M GS reached 90C regularly without problems.

yeah but at least in the 1330 this is a wide spread problem. Dell extended the warrenty on these cards now for 1 more year, but that doesn't help. Why do that when there seems to be a good deal of replacing it every X amount of months? Might return it in my 30-day buy and get away from dell >_>

When you are using it on your lap, make sure you are not blocking the FAN intake vents underneath the notebook.

Well, I'm thinking the GPU sensor is miss reading. if it was 92F in garrysmod, it would feel H O T. Well, it doesnt. Sure the fan is on max, air is coming out warm not -ouch-, and if i feel the GPU CPU area, hell it feels warm to normle to me. The HOTEST part of my laptop is under the trackpad. Comparing to the diagram, that's the wifi chip location. I think maybe I got one of the good sets. This was a refurbished one so maybe? I mean my friends dell gets hotter and its internal graphics >_>
