Ok, I am considering the XPS 1340 as a replacement for my m1330. On my m1330 when hooked into our church building's AV or other AV systems there is a 60hz hum that is passed through the system into the audio that can be heard when no audio is playing. Very similar to a ground isolation loops' hum.

In most of these applications the headphone output jack is used for analog sound as most AV systems in churches or PA systems do not have HDMI for digital sound.

I was pretty close to pulling the trigger on a Latitude e6400 but after reading on the forum that those with the Latitude e6400 are having the same hum I am not going to go that direction.

Has anyone had any issues with the analog sound output of the XPS 1340??

Since posting this originally I have run across info that this issue is due to the poor quality of Dell's AC to DC switching power supplies. Still haven't verified that the 1340 has the same issue.

It was there on a 1730 I got recently, sent it back the same day for other reasons. Not only was there a constant hum, but a morse-code sounding squeel, and over that, static that sounded like a poorly tuned FM radio...the three sounds all going at the same time. This has been an issue with Dell's laptops for a long time. Too bad, the XPS and Studio XPS lines are great in just about every other way.

As an aside, I got a Sony a couple of days ago, headphone audio out is dead silent.
