So I've had my XPS 1340 for a few weeks. While everything is great, I keep getting crashes. I have had a two freezes where I had to hard boot it and 6 or 7 blue screens when trying to wake it up from sleep. Anyone have any ideas before I call Dell? I already updated everything.

I would recommend you do a clean install, if you haven't already done so. It makes it run so much better. I did a clean install almost as soon as I got it and I haven't run into a single problem.
Also, Dell seems pretty friendly with people doing re-installs, they even tell you the order you should install your drivers in. -

I had to do a total re-install as well, and now mine is running smoothly as well. I used the drivers from the Dell support site, and I would recommend going there. It seems that Dell is constantly updating their drivers for this machine (one has the feeling they rushed this machine to market without making the machine go through all its testing paces). For instance the latest video driver update is on 4/2/09.
(and I just went to the Dell support site and their latest BIOS update is TODAY-- 4/21/09!)
So do the BIOS update first. Then install the drivers IN THE ORDER that Dell recommends (it's on their site). -

I have mine on order (arriving next week).
In terms of stability, which version of Vista is more stable? the 32 or 64 bit version? I have both copies through work.
Thanks! -
I use 64bit, simply because 32bit will not use all 4GB (It'll say 4GB is installed, but when you check in Task Manager, it'll only use 3GB of it)

^ I use 64-bit for the same reason. Also, nowadays there's nothing to lose when going from 32-bit to 64-bit. Unless you still use 16-bit software (which hopefully you shouldn't be!)
