It's the IR receiver on the front of the laptop, for use with remote controls etc.

In the XPS16 thread someone said you can download in the "My Account" section on the dell.com homepage.

i have another major problem - every 2nd time i turn on the computer it wont load vista. After the "Dell startup screen" the screen turns black and freezes. After a restart/reboot the computer works perfectly... Any idea what can be wrong??

Windows installed this for me. I didn't need the CD for the webcam in Vista or 7. Although there's no program to preview that it's working unless you use it through something like Messenger.

i got the same issue. Would of been nice to have a copy of the webcam software that was pre-installed on the untilities disk.
The webcam dirver works fine through MSN/SKYPE.

Also dose anyone know were to get the Audio manager that was pre-installed?

Hi i cant seem to find it on their homepage. I can only seem to find the "IDT Audio Driver" and not the managing software that has EQ settings etc.

btw great news on the webcam software :)

EDIT: The IDT HD Sound manager loaded up after i used the line in Jack. odd you cant launch it via the control panel audio section

I tried Dell webcam manger off the dell site and it says the same thing. Even though the current driver runs the webcam fine when launched by msn.
