    Hello all,
I have a friend with an XPS 14 that will boot past the Dell screen, to just a black and/or flashing black screen with no cursor. Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix the boot on this? The only solutions i saw in searching were for when the laptop is stuck at the Dell screen, not for if it passes.

We've tried turning, unplugging, and holding the power button to no avail.

    Thanks in advance!

EDIT: More info: just failed the hard drive 0 dst short test. Are there any tests to do to see if its just failed sectors? or a program that is interfering?
