I have an XPS 14 (Core i5, 420m, 6 GB RAM) that I purchased last December. Everything seems great except for a quite annoying issue that has cropped up in the last few weeks; sleep and hibernate modes only work intermittently under Windows 7. Thankfully, sleep/hibernate still work flawlessly under Ubuntu (dual boot), so it is not likely a hardware issue. The issue is even more confusing as it works sometimes (roughly 15-20% of the time). I checked all my power settings, and nothing has changed. Also, the same issue persists if I manually select either sleep or hibernate from the shut down menu; the screen will shut off and lock, but the computer will stay awake. Any thoughts?
