Hi all,
I have an xps14 ultrabook, I7 512gn ssd 1gb graphics
it has replaced an xps14z
On the 14z i could go into the nvidia control panel and change the resolutions and also assing what programs i wanted to use dedicated graphics.
The xps14 ultrabook , a better machine with better graphics card
wont allow me to change the resolution on the nvidia control panel ( it isnt an option on the left pane)
wont allow me to assign programs to the dedicated graphics under manage 3d settings
it lets me pick the prog but just shows intergrated graphics with no drop down
dell support think the graphics card is faulty
dell community forum say all this is correct and that all control is via the integratyed graphics which smacks of b/s
does anyone have the same spec machine
and can they confirm ( with a screenshot if possibleO) that i can change resolution etc within nvidia
many thanks

What's holding you back from changing the resolution the regular way? I just got mine today and I haven't been able to run through it thoroughly but I do not remember seeing an option for that in the Nvidia panel. Did the 14z have integrated graphics alongside the dedicated? Maybe the integrated handles that aspect of the system.

Yes the 14z had integrated graphics as well as dedicated.
the thing was with the 14z you could use the nvidia control panel to assign the dedicated graphics to certain programmes or let the computer decide but although the same option is there on the 14 ultra it wont allow me to switch to dedicated graphics so even if it is supposed to be like that that means i have lost control and functionality
this seems a step backwards
anyone else able to confirm this please -
Are you running the most current drivers from Nvidia (not necessarily the dell ones?). Sometimes they get rid of stylistic things like that... I had the same issue on a different machine where when I updated the driver, some of the ez switching functionality was gone. To me, it seems like you still have control, you just don't have it the easy way. I highly doubt your card is faulty.
