I have a new Dell XPS 14 that I've reinstalled the OS on to get rid of bloatware. Unfortunately I cannot seem to get the sound working. All I get is the speaker icon with a red x and now playback devices detected. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here. Seems that both Intel and Realtek have audio drivers but neither are working. I've tried multiple variations on the install process (realtek forst, then intel. Intel then realtek. Just intel. Just realtek, etc.) and it's just not happening.

Anyone else run into anything like this and have some insight?

    Annnnd my fault.

Disloged the connector from the sound card to the system board when installing the new SSD. Didnt see it because it hides under a plastic cover.

Nothing to see here... move along.
