Anyone see the engadget post on the 14z? Looks quite nice, super-thin bezel and the Shuriken self-refreshing display to shave another 0.5w off the already low idle load of a SNB system.

Dell confirms XPS 14z will go on sale in the US in the 'coming weeks' -- Engadget

    58Whr battery, 2430/2640m, Optimus ( :( ) (Don't know what GPU), USB3, and 4.36lbs (With HDD), Intel 6230 Wireless N (2x2) + BT 3.0, 13.19 x 9.21 x 0.9 inches

Anyone else interested in screen resolution and price?

Edit: Spec sheet reveals disappointing news. Display
    14” High Definition (720p) WLED with TrueLife™ with edge-to-edge glass (1366x768); 200-nit typical

Gpu is bad before GT520M, china dell version.
acer, asus already release ultrabook. very light, same with macbook air.
if really need the small size, better ultrabook. if not normal notebook is ok.

Let's hope Dell will come with a 1600x900 option.

Samsung 7 series and Sony SA both have 1600x900.

It would probably be too thick, and beyond that point the XPS 14z essentially is in a 13 inch laptop chassis so the screen might not fit.

If Samsung can fit a 14" 1600x900 screen in a 13" laptop, so can Dell, I would think.

pretty much. Plus if you've ever seen the way dell deals with the 15z screen (dell tech came out to my place today to replace mine with a 1080 :D) it comes as one unit. bezel + camera already attached.

Dell does that as it is not worth the technician's time to remove the entire LCD module, strip apart everything.

As an ASP for Dell, we cannot order said module, we have to order the LCD.

that sucks. especially considering that the tech took everything apart to get the monitor off. motherboard, networking card, fan, disk drive hard drive. everything

Wait wut? XPS 14 you should be able to get away with just all the WLAN cables, keyboard, palmrest, all relevant screws and ribbon connectors, pretty straight swap. I replaced 4 XPS 15 and 2 XPS 17 screens, not terribly difficult.

the x and z series are different. the x series is significantly less compact. i think thats what it comes down to
