I got my new xps 14z and was happy to work with them. After I start the xps 14z my happyness turns into disappointment as I saw the quality of the screen. The screen looks like a cheap print out of an inkjet printer. that means after every single vertical pixelline on the screen you can see a hair width grey space. It looks as the display is smaller then 14 inch and was stretched with these spaces into an 14 inch screen. It is very bad to work with that screen because your eayes see these spaces every time.
I own an xps m1330 too and the screen of it looks perfect against that new 14z screen. Has anybody the same issue and a solution for it or is that the new quality of Dell screens?

Review said bad LCD in brightness and contrast for outside use but I use my system inside most time. that the screen is so bad I never thought before. I wish to send it back but it was a dell swap for my old XPS m1330 and I dont know what I can do now.

I hope that Dell goes a step to me with that big issue with the screen. They told me a technican will show up at me and will take a look at the system but I think it will not be better with a replacement screen. I'm very disappoint about the Dell XPS 14z.

Just got my XPS 14z. For me display looks OK. At least it's not worse than my previous XPS 1330 screen. I had to slightly adjusted brightness/contrast in NVidia settings though.

That is the new quality of ALL 1366x768 screens on 14"+ laptops. They're horrible. Buyer beware.

For most PC-manufacturers now, the screen is the least important part. Pump it up with too much memory, an absurdly large hard drive, a processor that you won't really need unless you're a gamer, and leave the screen a piece of crap. I don't get it. The screen is what you look at the entire time you're using it. How can manufacturers not care about putting in decent screens? I know this is part of why Macs are so popular...all of them have excellent screens. It seems like in the PC world if you want a decent screen, you'll have to go for 1920x1080 resolution.

The Sony Vaio SE, and the XPS 15z (if you get the 1080p display upgrade) both have much better quality displays and are both also aimed at portability.

The XPS 15z has issues though: chrome trim coming off, and sometimes even the 1080p screen has issues.

My vote is return the XPS 14z and look into a Vaio SE.

PC-manufacturers very stupid, allways trouble user. included design. air flow on right-side. QC very bad, special made in chinese product.

memory, harddisk(except dell very stupid, inspiron on bottom mother board, xps 15 on bottom keyboard) easy add self. LCD that hard to replace and find on good such not dead pixel.

I believe I day PC much dead.
