I recently got a XPS 15 (L501X) and I noticed that the power adapter is making noise where the cable connects to the brick. Anyone else have this issue? The adapter makes a ticking noise in that connection area, almost like sparks. I called Dell and they sent me a replacement. This one is the same product number but a slightly different label. It makes a buzzing noise instead in the same area. I called Dell again and they sent me another replacement. This one looks the same as the last and still makes a buzzing noise, albeit half as loud. Should I keep going or is this normal? I've had several Dell notebooks and not one has ever made any sort of noise. What worries me most is that it's coming from this connecting area of the cord to the wall and the brick to the computer.

Are you plugging it into a grounded outlet?

I have an XPS 14 and my power adapter made a quiet buzzing noise when I first got it as well, but now seems to have stopped. I'd use the most recent quiet one for a few days and see if it improves.

This is a known issue with dell ac adapters, I have 3 total : 1 130w with a little noise 2 90w with a lot of noise for a S-xps 1647. After a new motherboard and several adapters i have accepted the noise because I cant find a brick that wont make it.

where exactly does the noise come from, where the mains goes in or where the wire comes out?
