3 years support really jacks up the price! How much is that adding on?

Seems a bit higher than it has been. The other week they started offering upgrade to 6Gb RAM free, whereas that looks to be about full price, less your 10%. On the other hand, if they're short of parts and demand is good, why should they reduce it?

Bear in mind they'll be taking out the mobile broadband card to put the TV card in. Then you've got Ultimate, BL KB, BDROM - guess it's not over what I paid in that respect, just not what I would have paid had I waited 3 more weeks!

I have just checked and the price & coupons amounts have not gone down. There is free shipping now though but the 6230 wireless option was no longer available, only the 1000 option was available when I checked :(

The coupon date has changed to April 6.

No backlit keyboard and blue ray drive option available yet online for the i7 XPS 15.

this was the configuration and the total including the 10% coupon is £1,187.10 (additional cashback from quidco 6% or topcashback 7.07%)

Instead to choose the i7 2720QM, you could choose the i7-2630QM without 3years warranty. That would be around 300 pounds less.

problem you really do need some form of warranty for a dell purchase. Support is crap without it and and there is possble risk of failures after the standard 1Yr. Its a lot of money but if you have to call them out once/twice ... it pays for itself.

    OK backup a minute.

Do You mean that I Cant have a Broadband card as well a a TV tuner? because they occupy the same slot?

Yup, the do. There's a half mini PCI-e card slot for the WiFi card and a full sized one for mobile broadband or TV tuner, or whatever else.

True about the support, in my case is the first time I buy a Dell, and it is without any extended warranty... hope I will not encounter any issue after a year.. I am here sitting and praying.. :nah:

Well I guess its best to have something like the Three mifi (E585), so that conecton can be shared across multiple devices.

I cant make up my mind on the price

Anyone ever get Dell to bulge on prices?.

I am tempted to buy without warranty and then ask to return notebook on receipt to force them to throw me freebies like the 3/4yr support

I think it depends on which agent you speak to. I'm also trying to get the bluray drive and backlit and everytime I go back to chat I am told something different!

This agent told me I could have both by ordering with him: [email protected]

    Good luck!

Your covered for 3 years under the sales of goods act against defaults especially with items of this value. When you buy these extended warranties your just buying something your entitled to by law. If the thing
Breaks after a year and they say the won't fix it , offer to complain to trading standards quoting the sales of of goods act and they will repair or replace it. It is the law.

Not in a bad way, but that's a [citation needed] I reckon. Seems like that only helps for 6 months, and only if the conditions of sale dont specify something contrary?

    Chaps,

since addition of Tv Tuner & Backlit keyboard has to be done by phone.
Any idea how to get quidco to work with this?

I bought backlit keyboard separately and a blu-ray writer from Amazon to swap out the DVD/CD drive - cheaper this way.

Bear in mind if you go for the TV tuner, they take out the 3G/HSDPA/GPS module which you get chucked in for free in the UK but have to pay for everywhere else!

Hi - was this online? Most excellent price. I have been trying to get the 6230, TV tuner and backlit keyboard but no joy doing it with an online order. I have a 10% off coupon with a 7.07% cashback :(. The configuration I am looking to get is almost the same as yours except for Win 7 Home Premium and i7-2720.

BTW - i just checked and there are no i7 options tonight :(

The best way to buy for Dell if you have the choice is not to talk to any of the numbskulls that man the phone seriously!

I ordered Friday Night and they send me Confirmation email for rubbish. After repeatedly saying to the dude what I wanted and then he reading it back to me on the phone. The Jack*** ordered me an XPS 15 with NO TV Tuner, Downgrade of wifi to 1030 when I asked for the 6230! And a 6GB RAM instead of 4GB Ram! I called my Barclaycard up and they have processed payments

So Now I have to write them an email telling them how they lark grey cells most animals have and should cancel the order and return my money back.

Looks Like I might just use the link you used. That way I won’t have to deal with those idiots

whats the difference between the Wireless card 1030 and 6230 ?

yup, the code you provided worked great for me. I was able to submit my order this past Saturday, it had the backlit keyboard, TV tuner and a higher spec wifi card (1030 instead of 1000 :D) for £37 more (using a 10% off voucher). Thank you very much once again for the code.

by the way, why does dell make it so hard to select options? hiding the i7 or the backlit keyboard or tv tuner is just stupid. why not just have all options available to select and provide availability information so the customer can determine if they are willing to wait for that part.

Thats great you got the backlight keyboard as well! trying the e-code now and it's not working for me either, really need to stop fuffing around and just get one!

Do only thing that's making me doubt is the bloody massive baterry, I wish I could just pick the ION 6...

Swapping components such as RAM and optical drive etc don't invalidate warranty...that said i'd put it back to factory before any repairs just in case :)

I bought a Sony Optiarc drive...any standard laptop drive will work...doesn't have to be Sony.

A shame that the N6230 cards dont exists at the moment for XPS :(

What a painfull experience having to go via Dell representatives ... it ages you!

Is the 5300 series card better that the N1030?
