    Hi - I just bought an xps L521x for my mum (56 y/o). It has 8gb ram, i7 3632qm and the 640m nvidia 2gb graphics. She want's to play game, but, her games are not like the games you think. She loves the look of the laptop and the screen, do you think it will be ok for her? the most demanding game she will want to play will be sim city 4 i think. Any help would be much appriciated, as i have already bought it and it arrives soon, but i can return it for a refund if needed. I was thinking about buying her an E6530 with the same specs, as that's a thicker laptop I'm guessing the cooling will be better? But it only has the NVS 5200m graphics, but should be fine for her. What do you think i should do?

    Hey guys

    Quick question... I have just purchased The Witcher 2 from steam and even after turning the resolution off of 1080p and the gfx settings down to low the game still runs like crap. Is this laptop really that bad or is there a possibility that the computer isn't recognizing my Nvidia card and is running off of the Intel gfx? I've opened the Nvidia control panel and changed it so the Nvidia card automatically runs when playing The Witcher but it is almost like it hasn't had any effect and is still running poorly.. Is there a way to find out if my nvidia card is faulty/not working or something?

    Run one of the monitoring apps to see what your cpu/gpu temps are, and see what they're clocking at, and see if it's just being throttled down from heat generation.

    Hey, I have figured out how to fix the WIFI issue within the XPS L521x laptop. First, I bought the Intel 7260 AC dual band card. Amazon.com: Intel Network 7260.HMWG WiFi Wireless-AC 7260 H/T Dual Band 2x2 AC+Bluetooth HMC: Computers & Accessories

    When I went to install it I noticed that the WIFI wires were positioned over the HDMI and USB 3.0 ports. These were unshielded. So I rerouted the wires (barely) around the memory port. This was a tight fit. I put a little electrical tape to secure it. After that I closed everything up and boom... My wifi is awesome now.

    I did have to modify the WIFI setup and disable the U-APSD Support. Otherwise the Wireless N would be throttled.

    No such thing as quality anymore geez!!
