I just read the Anatech review today, seems that the XPS 15 has the best screen currently in the market besides the HP Dreamcolor, that is amazing :)

Can everyone here confirm that the screen is really as good as the reviews say? I just called Dell, they say the 1080p screen is out of stock and they will return late January 2011.

    Thanks

If you read around the forums and specifically this thread, most members have feedbacked that the 1080 res screen is amazing though I recall certain issues about the colour' saturations...

I have a Spyder3 Elite color calibrator, I'm sure that can fix any issues with the colors.

Very interesting as the 1080p is what I ordered from them. They shipped me the 720p screen instead without my knowledge of the swap. When I've asked them to replace the screen or replace it when a new one is in stock they can't give me an ETA on the lcds. So I'm returning this thing for a full refund since Dell had no issue keeping my money and not giving me what I ordered nor can they provide me with what I ordered now since they're out of stock. Very professional, Dell.

I don't think that should be normal procedure, when something changes in the order, they should mail you about it, so you can decide, if they ship you the wrong screen I would have asked them for a full refund, specially when they don't have an ETA, but I think the late January 2011 is correct, we'll see. What I don't understand is why don't they remove the option when the screen is not available currently? At the Danish Dell site it's still available, but when you ask sales about the screen it's not...

They removed the 1080p screen from the US website but that was after I had already ordered one back at the end of November. After going through a lot of phone calls and emails with Dell support they've finally made it right. @DellCares on Twitter took care of the issue and offered me a full refund for the laptop as well as $100 compensation to be used on another laptop come Sandy Bridge's release next year. I couldn't believe they came through for me as I never expected them to be able to. If you ever have any issues with Dell customer service, try the Twitter method with @DellCares to see if they can help you out. Great people on there who care about their image as a company.

Well that's good to hear, kinda sucks that Dell didn't anticipate the amount of people ordering the 1080p screens with a new XPS line..

Yeah, you'd think that with a powerhouse like the XPS line they'd expect consumers to want the best display. Oh well, I'll be fine waiting until Sandy Bridge.
