Looks like this hasn't been started yet, as a lot of folks were commenting on the older threads about the new technology coming out.
I may be one of the few people that still own this laptop on this board though, as feedback seems to be most returned it for the anticipated and now available 9570. For me, the 9575 fit a major gap in my mobile work flow for editing with the Wacom AES 2.0 input system, and 4k 100% Adobe RGB (mine calibrated at 97%) display. While the tablet functionality is not usable for long term in a carry and write style. It works fantastic as a tent tablet in every aspect I've encountered.
Fan profiles with the latest BIOS from Dell have more than fixed the loud fan issues. To be fair, most time I'm doing anything that would be considered intensive, I have the GPU work rendering in an eGPU (aorus gaming box 1080) so my fans hardly kick in. When running on the AMD chip for graphic demanding work or bench marks, the fans are noticeable and the CPU hits 92 C before hitting a power limit throttle - not thermal.
All in all, the eGPU has been plug and play since day 1. It feeds back to my internal 4k monitor, and allows for 45-60 FPS 4k gaming (with adjusting settings down a little). It's amazing for on the go and would stand to be my number 1 recommended laptop for photographers who need the adobeRGB coverage and use wacom input.

Hi there,
We have have a problem with the XPS 15 9570 regarding DPC latency. I am wondering if I can get one of you 9575 owners to run LatencyMon for a few minutes to check if it behaves the same? It would be a big help!
On the 9570 ACPI.sys is interupting more than a fair amount (~2000ms). Too much for it to be suitable for realtime audio work anyway. Dell is informed and working on it.

Link for LatencyMon: http://www.resplendence.com/latencymonabujafar likes this. -
I have sorted out latency problems with the 9550 & 9560. Search some of my posts for ideas.
- Part of the problem was immature BIOS/drivers from Dell, M$, Intel, nVidia. Those got largely sorted over time took say 12+ months for the 9550 and 6+ months for the 9560). And after that, tweaks did not make much of a difference.- You should be running Latency Mon with no programs running.
- In Idle with no programs open, launch ThrottleStop. On the main screen, C0% should be below 1%, else you have a lot of background processes running away. Go to the ThrottleStop thread for some tips on getting C0% down.
- What audio interface are you using and what ASIO drivers? The best drivers are RME ASIO. The M$, Realtek, MME, Wasapi, DirectSound drivers are all terrible. ASIO4ALL might be OK but there are plenty of people that dislike that. Most of the cheap interfaces have common drivers that are frequently lousy. This is the best interface thread for more research:
https://www.gearslutz.com/board/mus...erface-low-latency-performance-data-base.html
- Try completely removing the nVidia drivers (You need to use a third party program like DDU for true removal)
- You can try disabling the Windows Defender antivirus (easy with W10 Pro but not sure how to do that with W10 Home).
- Are you short RAM? If you are coming somewhat close to 16GB ram use, increasing RAM might help, else it probably is a waste of money.
- Disable your bluetooth which is buggy on the XPS units
- Headphone drivers are a mess but you should not be using headphone out on the XPS ever.
- Disable wifi when using DAW
--->Current optimal use for me I think on 9560 & 9550 is:
* Disable c-states in BIOS
* Disable Windows Defender & Wifi
* Uninstalled nVidia entirely with DDU
* Windows Power Options (High Performance)
* Dell Command I Power Manager (set to Ultra Performance) - this has some settings we can not access elsewhere
* ThrottleStop for optimization:
-- Undervolt CPU core & CPU cache (you can probably do both by say -140mv or -150mv with 8th gen i7 but you need to test your CPU). If your laptop runs cool and is not throttling, undervolt is not necessary
-- Do NOT undervolt Intel GPU or System Agent as that can cause LATENCY PROBLEMS
-- Do NOT run with Intel XTU as they conflict
-- Uncheck every box on the main screen (including: C1E, BD Prochot, Disable Turbo)
------ But...I enable SpeedShift and set EPP=0 as that boosts performance in laptops. You can enable SpeedShift in your BIOS or with ThrottleStop. But the only easy way to change EPP I know of is ThrottleStop.abujafar likes this. -
Hello Pressing,
Thanks for responding with all your tips. However, I have been through it all already. Literally disabled everything in the BIOS (even limited the system to two cores) to no avail.
I am running an RME baby face with ASIO drivers, as you recommend, and it has always performed flawlessly on my other systems. This is not a problem with sound drivers. It is probably something that needs to be fixed in the BIOS. Something is calling the ACPI.sys way too much. Probably something to do with power management.
I am also running throttlestop with a stable -.180mv on the cpu core and cached (without undervolt the issue is still there).
What I haven't tried is the DDU removal of the nvidia drivers. I'm almost certain that it is a problem that only dell can fix (and fingers crossed), but I guess it's worth a shot.
Thanks again. It would still be great to hear from people with the 9575 if ACPI.sys is behaving similarly.abujafar likes this. -
Dell still has not sorted out the nVidia driver latency issues on the 9550 (Skylake) so I don't know if that will happen anytime soon on the 9570 lol. I finally got latency pretty low with the nVidia drivers installed but latency improved a lot by uninstalling the nVidia drivers with DDU. The Intel GPU is fine for regular tasks.
ACPI.sys still is the biggest latency hog for me also but I've got everything running fine and the latency mon results are fine so there is no reason for me to do more. For 30 minute runs of LatencyMon, I am getting "Highest reported DPC routine execution time" of below say 300μs. Interrupt & ISR latency are lower. No hardpagefaults.
-180mv is too aggressive for the 8750 CPU. Your undervolt should probably be closer to -150 based on the posts here of at least a dozen users. If you run Prime95 overnight the errors will accumulate and the system will crash. You don't want to be anywhere near that. Particularly as you are having [stability] issues.
Are you running both the latest RME Windows drivers & the latest firmware on RME box?
I know there were some issues with some Samsung nvme drivers...do a search on the forums to see if that might help.
Good luckabujafar likes this. -
Hi pressing, thanks again for your advice and tips.
I have just now tried uninstalling nvidia drivers with DDU (safe mode, no internet) and latency was the same.
Yes, I am running both newest RME drivers and firmware.
My 9570 came with a toshiba nvme drive (512gb), not a samsung. I have tried several different drivers for the controller plus changing the mode from RAID to AHCI in bios.
About the undervolt, I have been running it like so for over a month and it has been rock stable. It was even stable at -.185mv, but I decided to back it up .005mv. As mentioned, the latency is the same regardless. It is not a stability issue, but more likely a design flaw somewhere in the code.
It's good to hear that you have reasonable DPC and ISR interuption times on your 9550 and 9560. This makes me hopeful that dell will come around with a fix. Btw, I did manage to get the issue 'escaleted' to something called the esc-team at dell premium tech service when I told them that everyone working with realtime audio and music would and should avoid the machine when they find out about the DPC latency.abujafar likes this. -

I just got my 9575 yesterday. Or well, my second 9575 as the first one I got two weeks ago went completely dead after 10 minutes of usage. Dell replaced it with a brand new one. Previously I had the Lenovo Yoga 920 (really nice, but very bad thermals and annoying flex in casing) and the HP Spectre x360 15" Vega (worst touchpad since the dawn of laptops, and the full size keyboard kind of annoyed me).
Due to being in Europe we don't have the option of getting a FHD screen and 16gb ram so I had to go for the UHD version. The display is really nice though.
My first unit had a SK Hynix SSD, and this replacement actually has a Samsung PM981 one which is nicer speedwise. Undervolted by -140mv and been running stable, and the CPU can sustain itself at 3.6ghz on all 4 cores no problem. Currently running it with a Razer Core X eGPU enclosure and a GTX 1080 Ti.
Only real complaints I have about this laptop is the Killer wireless and the slow BIOS POST. The Killer wireless actually gives me good speeds, but has occasionally dropped when downloading from Battle.net or Steam, and it completely saturates the entire wireless network, never seen that with any other computer. -
Seems like the 9575 is suffering the same interupts from the APCI. Dell are working on it, and hpefully they will provide a fix soon (probably in the form of BIOS updates. I'll post here as soon as I hear back from them.

Hello
i am new here and my English is bad. Since two Months I am an owner of a 9575 and it has very heavy throttling problems. Can somebody run something like the System Stability Test from AIDA64 and tell me the power consumption of both the CPU package and GPU (check CPU, FPU, cache and GPUs)? I Want to compare it. AC Power needs to be plugged in.
Here is a video of my problem (sorry for the bad quality):

Curious though, mind running firestrike ultra if you have it with your external GPU and posting the graphics score? Curious how much more performance is achievable using TB3 in comparison to the 1080 I use on mine.
Cheers. -
When they are going to replace the whole notebook, is it possible to keep the ssd?

This may be some charging circuitry.
Sure FLIR is good for watching where the heat is. But the question is where the relevant sensors are and what are their thresholds. And what more can be done to take heat out of the case better. -

Sweet, works too. Looks like your 1080ti gives a little boost at 1080p compared to the 1080 I run.
https://www.3dmark.com/spy/4082548 this is my TimeSpy
https://www.3dmark.com/fs/15948869 this is my firestrike
All in all - IMO they are similar enough that the difference in game would be moot. This is where I think you would scream past me at firestrike Ultra since 4k seems to make a massive difference with the higher end cards, where they are severely bottlenecked by TB3 in the lower resolutions. -

So laptop made it back yesterday. they replaced the mobo and battery. Thankfully the ssd was spared so I lost no data.
Now moving forward with upgrading to a 1tb ssd, windows is saying it can not install onto my nvme samsung 960? Any thoughts to what's going on?
Also trying to clone the drives gives errors as well due to mixed partition sizes. I tried to create a shrunken partition to match the drive size, and it still gives me the error even with 3/4 of the drive being unallocated. I've tried using samsungs software but it does not recognize the Samsung drive in an external enclosure.

Also appears they used the same heat sync and spreaders. My system now thermal throttles during a cinebench....so going to have dell send a tech back to the house with a new heat sync and I'll put some grizzly on it

Hi I'am looking to buy this little one, I saw that there was some issues to lookout for so I wondered what I should check when I recieve my machine.
for now I know that I should
check if the bios is updated,
look for a stable setup /fix for the throttling issue
look for gpu driver update at intel's place
and.. what else, and what not?
I dunno if I should mention that I'l be using mostly Zbrush/substance and Maya on this bad boy. -

Picked the 16GB I7 model up from Best Buy a couple weeks back as a bit of an impulse buy, and so far really like it. The 4k screen is gorgeous, and it plays the few games I occasionally have time for very well. I may play around with re-pasting, etc. at some point, but so far out of the box it has been a very good experience with just the regular -125 on core and cache in ThrottleStop. I have used the tablet mode a couple times as well, kindle app, some netflix, etc. and really like the option to do so.

Hi Guys, I've been eyeing this laptop instead of going for Gaming laptops.
Could you please tell me how it performs in games while connected to eGPU 1080 or 1080ti? (+ Monitor with high refresh rate) I saw the benchmarks, but It won't tell me much about the actual performance as I don't understand it as much as you do. I'm not a huge gamer, but I want to enjoy games when I have time to play them - AC, Tomb Rider, and something like Lol, Smite, PUBG. I just need fast all-around with satisfying battery life for travels. Okish weight and something thats basically fun for everyday use. (Love the screen). I use laptop nearly all the time and everywhere + I travel a lot so it seems like a nice option having eGPU and monitor at home while powerful, fast, fun, nice looking laptop for any other usage.
+ I'm looking to learn photoshop and 3D modeling in near future (seems like must know knowledge these days).
Setup I'm looking at:
Display: 1080p (By my opinion I won't notice a 4k difference on such a small screen - my walled would)
SSD: 512GB
CPU: i7-8705G Processor
RAM: 16GB DDR4-2400MHz Integrated
(Everything not mentioned is same in all the other options - I think)
Since I'm not heavy gamer it seems like plausible option and I would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks -

1) Buy the smallest HDD unless you can get a stellar deal. The 512 upgrade can be done post for cheaper with better hardware. I did a 1tb upgrade, and its amazing.
2) 4k - even on a 15" screen you can most definitely tell the difference. But I am a photographer / videographer and this was important to me.
3) eGPU . . .
a) It works well when it works, which is often. I am just now having issues with mine not wanting to take on the first attempt
b) This works great for 4k gaming with a 1080, but 1080p suffers and can not maintain high frame rates on most games. I tested this and maxed around 100 fps in benchmarks where as in 4k I was seeing 45-60fps depending on title. 45 in Farcry 5 maxed out, and 60 in things like overwatch.
c) AC is hugely CPU demanding. I was going to try Odyssey and Origins on my setup today / tomorrow and get some benchmark numbers i can give. I'll hook up my 1440p 144hz monitor to my eGPU and try and get numbers, but I'm better the CPU bottleneck will be massive and hard to overcome
d) I mainly use mine in Photoshop with massive layers / objects. It works AMAZING, and to that it has fit the perfect laptop for me.Shere likes this. -
Unfortunately with 16GB RAM there is only 512GB SSD option, I'm hoping that their SSD wont be too far behind Samsung.
The screen, I don't know about that. It's already too expensive right now, not to mention 4k display. It makes another 233 EUR, which makes it above my budget and as I'm not working on the photography and content creation (at least for now) it seems not needed. I'm hoping that FHD is going to be enough.
Thank you for the info about the eGPU. I'll be waiting for the AC info and again thank you for your honest input. -
reptileexperts Notebook Consultant
So I hooked up my 1440p external, and set it to 1080p and 144hz directly to the eGPU
Booted asssassin's creed Odyssey and set it to 1080p unlimited frames, "High" preset.
Max Frames 97
Average Frames 58
Min Frames 16
It was pretty rough. Working on Origins next.
Unfortunately the CPU bottleneck is strong on this game. This is Odyssey, the above is Shadow oF the Tombraider, settings shown. This was at the "high" preset, 1080p
OK. Here you go. Hope this information is helpful for you.
This was ran at 1080p, high settings defaulted
It really seems like the limiting factor is going to be the CPU as 52 avg frames, max was 110 and min got down to the 10's during a CPU throttle where it had to kick the fans in high gear. Running at 1440p I dont feel I would see any FPS lost - in fact I will run it now to see.Last edited by a moderator: Oct 7, 2018Shere and custom90gt like this. -

I am about to be on my 3rd mother board since August for this laptop. I have had
1) complete failure
2) thunderbolt failure
3) USB power and daily bluescreens
At this point I have asked Dell to replace this laptop entirely, since at the price point of it being 2100 USD, this is a sham of a system. The most recent motherboard thermal throttles like mad and crashes at 102 when doing stability testing... As much as I want to still love this laptop, I now must urge folks to look elsewhere.pressing likes this. -
