Are there any news about external GPU´s via Thunderbolt 3? I´m thinking about changing my i7/HD520 to a i7/Iris based on the performance, on the other hand the decrease of the battery life.. Best Solution would be an external GPU, but so far most thinks i read about thunderbolt 3 solutions needed a specific bios and i´m not sure whether Dell would upgrade an "old" XPS 13 by the time the first thunderbolt 3 eGPU´s come up..

As there isn't a single one available on the market yet, nobody knows for sure ... we'll just have to wait and see.

    This.

Since there aren't any thunderbolt 3 eGPU docks out yet, nobody knows how they will work, or what the requirements are.

The only thing we know right now is that Razer will release their Thunderbolt eGPU enclosure (Razer Core) soon. We know it is compatible with the Razer Blade Stealth. But we don't know if it is compatible with other generic Thunderbolt 3 laptops, and what the requirements are.

For example, we dont know if your Dell XPS 13 9350 will require a BIOS update; or cuatom drivers; or if it will work at all. We just won't know the answers to these questions until an eGPU dock comes out, and people have a chance to tinker with it. Until then, I would not make any purchasing decisions around eGPU compatibility, because we simply don't know enough right now.

Thanks, I'll wait till the first docks are tested.
