    Hi Guys,

To all XPS 15 9530 owners, I am currently playing with the resolution settings and text / font size, and I would like to know your settings.

    My current settings as follows:

    Resolution: 3200 x 1800

Change the size of all items : 150% [Screen Resolution > Make text and other items larger or smaller]

I find it small, but changing to 200% fonts becomes big on other application .

I tried, 2048 x 1152 and it looks blurry ? or its just me ;)

Out of the box, do you know the resolution settings ? I wasn't able to check since I re-image everything with windows 8.1 Pro , as soon as I open the box.

I do hope you guys can share your settings and comments.

It will be blurry if you are not using a multiple of the native resolution...

I either use the native res with 150% text or 1080p depending on the app/situation I am using it in.when I connect to a projector for work I set it to 1080p with text at 100%

otherwise I run it in native res

I just picked one up as well and the resolution is freaking horrible. Windows 8.1 the operating system is programs are good but using chrome so far is horrible.

The images look like crap and the text is blurry.

Are people just living with this or is there some sort of fix? I purposely purchased the higher resolution in hopes or better quality.

I don't have that issue at all. I use chrome with the native res without any issue..... wonder what is going on here....Can you post a screen shot?

The Chrome developers are working on the high-dpi issues. While the image scaling is ok IMHO, the font rendering has to be improved.

As you probably know, Google is always working on 3 Chrome releases at a time. There's the stable, the beta and the developer release. The developer release is currently at version 36. In version 36 the font rendering in Chrome for Windows is switched to DirectWrite, a Microsoft-API that's working well on high-dpi displays ( http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd368038(v=vs.85).aspx).

The switch to DirectWrite is a quite complex modification. The main functions are already working, but some issues are not yet solved. If you want to monitor the current progress, you can have a look at the related issue threads:

    https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=149881
    https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=25541
    https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=160457

If you want you can try the Chrome developer version yourself. But be aware, that it's not meant for productive use (although it works well in most cases). If you want to stay on the stable channel, you just have to wait. I guess that the switch to DirectWrite will not be finished with release 36, maybe it's done with 37.

Thanks, as a primarily chrome user it was quite a disappointment.

I previously owned the XPS 15z and comparing it side by side, I can actually view more on the XPS 15z's 1920x1080 which was another disappointment. Any idea to get the most out of the screen?
