Has anyone attempted and been successful with a firmware upgrade boot from USB. If they have can you confirm how you did it.

If you're asking if you can upgrade the firmware of a Samsung SSD when it's connected via a USB adapter (or USB drive enclosure), then the answer is no.

To upgrade the firmware on a Samsung SSD with Samsung Magician software, it needs to be directly connected to a computer and running in AHCI mode. Samsung Magician won't update SSD firmware if you have it connected via USB, because the SATA-to-USB controller chip prevents Samsung Magician from having direct access to the drive (which is needed for a firmware update).

Also, the Dell uses an OEM version of the Samsung drives that don't work with Samsung Magician.
