I'm wondering howt I can access the Intel Management Engine configuration (MEBx) on my Dell XPS 15 9950. Some say that pressing <CTRL> + <P> during the boot process will give access to the ME configuration.
This does not work here. If I press this Hot Key, nothing happens, even if enabled in the BIOS settings.
The information in HWiNFO64 shows up that INTEL ME is enabled and working.

Does anyone of you has a hint where to start ?

If you have Intel AMT configured by corporate administrators then you can access but it needs AMT support too.
I tried on my alienware and it didn't work. -
Managebility (AMT) is not capable on Alienware in general. But on XPS 15 it is capable.
But I assume that I first need to access the ME configuration on Bios Level before I can do anything else. I might be wrong.Vasudev likes this. -
Indeed I've got this sticker too. I expected something like this.
Thank you for the hint.Vasudev likes this. -
Interesting...
If disabled for you then disabled for NSA too?
And why then we get positive Intel ME vulnerability scans and updates for ME???
About a month ago, in the wake of the vulnerability discovery, Dell briefly offered one laptop with the ME disabled, but soon changed their minds.
Or is this "ME disabled" one such special series? -
ME disabled seems standard across the board, it will definitely be an option for large businesses that spec what they want.Vasudev likes this.

if you type in the service tag of your computer, into support on dell site, then you can list original config. there should be a listing ME disable and label..
something like that:
G451F
1
LABEL, SETTING/SETTINGS, MANAGEMENT, MEBX, DISABLE, 3

Thanks for posting that! (checking for ME disable in original configuration)
I've got an XPS 15 9560 (2017) that wound up with version 11.7.0.1045 of the IME, and Dell SupportAssist keeps wanting to install version 11.7.0.1054 (a version that seems to be unique to Dell?) -- but the installation always fails. So...I've been back and forth with Dell support over the past 3 weeks on this. They've escalated to L3, and the only answer they can come up with is either - complete clean reinstall of Windows (not very practical!) or to disable the ME interface in device manager.
I have no qualms about disabling the ME interface -- but wondering why the heck we went through hours of remote support and a dozen emails, when my original config shows the following:
MDK25 INFORMATION, MANAGEMENT, INTEL, ME, DISABLE 1
It would appear that the IME is, in fact, not enabled in my XPS 15. So...the ME interface into Windows would seem to be of no value at all...
Thoughts?

I said this from the start, and don't be surprised that the people at Dell are a bunch of idiots that don't have a clue.

I'm new to this forum -- but it looks incredibly useful... I can confirm that my experiences to date with support are consistent with your assessment
.
Nice to know the ME is disabled for me. I just disabled the ME interface in device manager - hopefully SupportAssist will stop bugging me to update it.
