    Video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_eAIbTTxURBUVNzWjFyaklxODQ/view?usp=sharing
(Full screen and view in HD to see the lines)

So i recently bought this XPS 15 with 4k display and as soon as the first boot these lines have been appearing everywhere randomly. Only time they are not present is when im watching a video in full screen which leads me to believe its a software issue (Intel HD530 to be specific). I got rid of it for like an hour by disabling the HD 530 grafix driver but now even that isn't working. I couldn't find alot of people here who have this issue so i started this thread. If its a software issue then why only a few systems are effected? I really like this machine and apart from this issue i dont have any other.

    Things i've done so far:
Clean install with no Dell drivers.
All drivers updated through windows update.

    Any suggestions?

Does it happen in BIOS or in diagnostics? If it doesn't happen in safe mode it isn't necessarily the driver, though. It's possibly a malfunction of the igpu.

hold the D button down and press power on the laptop, it will boot into screen diagnostics.

Did that. The test ran fine, no lines during the test. Also no lines on screen while watching a video full screen but lets say i change the volume while watching a video then the volume box that pops up on the top left shows lines also.

When i first got the laptop it was happening in the bios then i updated bios and installed windows and bios looks good now but i do see the lines flashing on the dell logo when i boot the system or restart it.

What version of Intel display drivers are you guys using?
Is there any way to completely disable the intel display and use nVidia only?
There a big discussion about it over here but no solutions yet: https://communities.intel.com/thread/91353?start=15&tstart=0

Using the Beta, you have to install this via the device manager as it wants Dell certified drivers. You have to right click and update drivers then hit browse, let me pick & point it to the inf in the extracted folder of the beta download. After that you can always install intel via the setup/exe option.

Make sure you get the latest nvidia drivers from the nvidia website as well.

That's what i have currently installed but still no luck.
Everything points towards a software issue but it doesn't make sense to me that not a lot of people are having this issue if it's software related. I'm gonna try your ISO tonight and see how it goes.

If it happened in the BIOS it is certainly a hardware issue, not a software issue.

It's not happening with the latest bios update but it happens on the dell screen logo and it doesn't happen while playing a video full screen.

If it happens on the Dell logo screen it is not software based. Afraid it is probably the motherboard or screen at fault..

Gave Dell a call they said they'll replace the screen. I'll post back with the new screen.

OK, so test your screen for dead pixels and likewise with the replacement as they have serious QC issues as they are 2nd hand parts. If you are lucky they wont have one and will build you a new machine. Assuming the units still quite new you could request a new unit. If they want to swap the motherboard if a screen swap doesn't work then demand a new build as this is a full stripdown.

Have you done a BIOS reset?

What do you mean by BIOS reset?

The screen i currently have has no back light bleed at all so i asked him if they're gonna give me a new screen so he said all the parts are refurbished... so i hope i don't get a ****ty screen. He also said its out of stock and he will know more on Tuesday or Wednesday and will give me a call.
I see you have 4 9550s, have you had any major issues? And yes i will check the new(Refurbished) screen before he leaves. The machine is only 52 days old and its perfect for my needs that's why i didn't return it. Did i make the right call?
The other option he gave me was that they can give me another XPS but it will also be refurbished so I'm not taking a change with another one because the one i have has no issues other than the screen.

I had 3 replaced to get a decent 4th, the 9550 was a replacement to a 18 month old 9530 that also got swapped 3 times.

Go into the BIOS and load the defaults, see how it is after that.

Damn, i was hoping for it to last me at least 2-3 years but i guess that's not gonna happen. Did they replace yours with a refurb model or brand new? They only offered me a refurb but the rep said it himself "... which could have its own issues" lol
And yes i tried that also it makes no difference and I'm noticing it everywhere now (dell logo, f12 test, on webpages). Even during windows installation it shows random lines across the screen now(Its getting worse the more i use it now) so I'm convinced now that its a hardware issue but video playback is still perfect which makes no sense to me.

I dished out the threats that I wouldn't accept a new system being ripped apart and laughed when they tried to push a refurb on me, I simply said ok then I will return it for a refund as it isn't fit for purpose & will involve the credit card company to claim the money back if they tried to refuse.. They backed down.

Update: Got the screen replaced by dell, it seems like a new screen not a refurb.
The random white lines are gone but I'm noticing something i don't know how to explain, some colors look terrible (blacks mostly). Look at this picture i captured from youtube: http://r73i.imgup.net/xps1acf.png
Another example: http://s32.postimg.org/ftppib86d/blk.png (look on the top left corner)
I've tested this with youtube, netflix, and native 1080P videos. It was terrible with the latest intel driver then i updated to the beta driver and its much better now but still noticeable. Here's a black level test also: http://s32.postimg.org/p4ck9p2cj/blk.png
    Any thoughts?

Update: The color issue was related to Premier Color app, uninstalling it fixed it.
