I'm making this thread to let you see the view angle of the XPS 15 Infinity Edge.

My display model : Sharp Panel SHP143E
    Process of the test :
    - Maximum brightness (100%)
    - Completely black (0, 0, 0) image

    Results :
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

You can notice that there is a red tint coming from the corner and the side.

    Same test with blue :

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

It is also noticeable in daylight :

It does affect white and blue too. White are tinted with red on the corners, and blue become purple on the corners.

The worst is, I don't think my panel is defective.
Most of the people I've ask to check said that they have the same "red thingy", FHD and 4K UHD are affected the same way.

To properly check the view angle : On a black screen, go to the left and right at an angle (and top, so in diagonal) and check the screen. Please take a picture of your view angle if you claim that "your screen is totally fine".

When I received my XPS15 Infinity, I was pretty sure I didn't have that issue, and replied several time that my view angle were fine, but when I checked properly, I perceived it, and now I see it every time I boot my laptop, watch movies, everything that have dark colors.

Edit: I've called the dell support. They said that it is caused by a gap between the panel and the bezel, making the backlight bleed. Mine seems not properly sealed. Personnaly I don't think it comes from the backlight of the display, and will get exactly the same issue (that happened to someone on reddit). Anyway I've until Monday 23 nov 14h GMT+1 to decide to return it / ask for a replacement or they also offered me to change my panel. What do you think guys ?

I am lucky, my FHD has minimal IPS glow, and only in the bottom right.

My Dell u3415w and U2515 monitors really suffer with it :( I have learned to live with it after replacing a couple of panels and having similar amounts of glow.

Yours looks particularly bad though, how bad is it at a useable brightness in person? It is really luck of the draw how much glow you will get so you may want to try and get a replacement

IPS glow, whatever, call it what you want. I've an iiyama IPS LED panel (150$ at most) which have no glow at all...
Replacement won't change anything, as we all have the same sharp display :(

I have about 5 IPS panels, some are affected and some not. Dell are notorious for it. If I had a decent camera I would show you my IPS U3415w 34" dell.
And no 2 panels are the same, some will have more glow than others. You will probably not get a panel without any mind you. My xps FHD panel has very minimal glow so I clearly got very lucky

I've added the test with pure blue (0, 0, 255), there is clear color shift, it appears purple...

Yep my 4K model is like that too. I'll double check with all the colours you have used when I get home, but I remember testing with a black screen and getting the same results.

I don't remember mine having so much red in the corners when faced head-on, however I may be sitting further back and the camera may be exaggerating the effect.

It would be interesting to see if the FHD displays behave the same.

I wish I could take some photos of mine for you. I do get the red colour shift although mine does not seem as visible. But head on mine looks perfect

Looking forward to your pictures then.
It may change my mind and accept I've a deffective panel if I've real evidence that there is panel without those issue.

Mine has it too but I don't mind since I don't view the laptop at those angles.

Mine also has a dead red pixel on black background which is horrible. I just got it back from the repair depot too.

I have to call in tomorrow and request a replacement or a refund. I can't send it in for repairs again because I need the laptop for work. Worst case is I buy something else and request a refund seeing how the first two weeks after I got it, it spent at the repair depot. I haven't had the thing a full month even though it came in on the 3rd of this month.

Any update on this issue for those who have it? Did you return/exchange/repair -and if so, does your new XPS15 exhibit the same problem?

My panel has this behavior as well - although i would still say it's a beautiful display. It's not often I will really look at the screen from these more extreme angles.

I am also experiencing red tint or color shifting at different viewing angles, mostly on white or black backgrounds.
I have the 4K touch display. Did you get any answers from Dell?

I doubt that FHD displays have that red color shift. From the threads this seems to be a 4k problem. My FHD doesn't have it. It got bleed in the corners, but 'white', and zero red shift from whatever angle.
