Seems like the 32 GB RAM Model is finally available. At least here is the UK. Also seems like the prices have come down slightly. Or am I missing the plot here?

You can now get an i7 1080p (with presumably 84wHr abttery) -
I believe that you get the 84whr battery if you get a model with SSD only, and the 56whr battery if you get the model with an HDD 1tb drive and a 32gb cache.
Can anyone confirm that? I'm looking to order soon, and definitely need the ability to have 2 disks, but the 1tb sata and 32gb ssd would be nigh on useless and I'd replace them anyway. I'd like to buy the 256gb ssd model, and add a second sata ssd, but I can't be certain what battery I'll be getting on that model, and whether the sata bay will be available or filled by the larger battery. -
Now that the i7/1080p/84wHr config is available the only thing holding me back is that the Gorilla glass covering on the 4k model looks a lot nicer. The plastic around the matte screen is kind of...meh looking -
I'm really struggling between the 4k model and the FHD one. I do want to play games on it, but it's also going to be my primary work computer all day.
My time at work is split between a lot of web browsing, and remote management of Windows server via Terminal Console. I'm worried that the scaling might not work properly here, which would make that part of my job incredibly difficult. I also need to run some virtual machines (hence the need for a 2nd physical disk) and again am concerned about scaling.
can anyone comment on this? -
I will get 4K! Perfect for works/lots of text and pictures. as long as your apps have proper scaling..
I wont bother with gaming on 960M, i struggled to play D3, dropping below 60fps even with 1080p res. Something is not right with XPS15 implementation of 960M.
It is perfect for work though, light, professional looking and 4K colors and crispy text. -

Thanks g.achrainer, interesting read.
" Since the session is being scaled on your client machine, the display will not necessarily be crisp and clear as seen with host-side scaling, but Session Zoom offers better readability and usability with remote sessions on older versions of Windows."
It looks like the 4K screen really isn't right for me, sadly. Oh well I guess I can save quite a bit of cash for a bigger ssd at least -
Personally I want the UHD with touch. I now find using non-touch enabled machines a PITA quite frankly.
Am just trying to find some decent discount coupons to bite the bullet. -

omg the new config 1TB SSD + 32GB RAM on Dell.ca is $3700 CAD
that's $4144 after taxes for a notebook, and literally >$1000 more than i what i paid for the 9550 -- just to double the RAM and storage.Last edited: Feb 2, 2016 -
I don't think you can buy a 1TB PCIe SSD at this point, so one could argue that it's worth the upgrade. But you can upgrade your computer to 32GB yourself these days for less than $200, if you're willing to buy the memory and stick it in yourself.

I got what amounted to 15% off through the Microsoft store using a teacher discount. My wife is actually a teacher so I wasn't trying to scam them but she wasn't with me when I went to buy it. I told them she was a teacher and if she had to be present for me to get that discount. They said they would apply it anyway without her there. Might be worth a try as well for people who aren't married to a teacher.
