So I recently chatted with a Dell rep specifically on the issue about whether the XPS 15 would ever get a BIOS update to support the eGFX standard from Intel to allow eGPUs over thunderbolt 3. It appears to be a very firm no.

Of course the sales rep would say no.

It is likely the sales rep doesn't know what the future roadmap of the laptop will be. They are a Sales rep... They aren't in the product management or product engineering team. Their job is to sell products that are available today, and not speculate on what may be happening in the future.

Even if the sales rep has internal knowledge that is a "yes" on future unannounced eGPU support, they aren't going to tell some random guy that just calls up on the phone. It's unethical (and in some cases illegal) to try and sell based on future promises. A Sales rep would be forced to say "no" until an official announcement is made by Dell, that would allow the sales rep to say "yes."

    I am not surprised.
There has been no bios update for months now.
We still don't see Intel Speed Shift feature being enabled.
Dell dont regular update bios with new features beyond stability fix.

Just FYI Dell, if you do enable this you will have my money. if you do not, you will not.
