Hey guys,
Can someone provide me with the part number for the 1080p LCD display for the XPS 15? Does anyone know the cost? I currently have an XPS 15 on the way to me, and I ordered the 720p screen. By the time I realized that was a mistake (the next day) they said it was too late to cancel. Anyway, they've already offered to knock $100 off, just wondering what a 1080p display cost, I could install myself. I am a college student, and my laptop was stolen, so it's going to be tough for me to send it back, order a new one, etc. I used my Dell Preferred Account, because I am broke, which will also make things take longer. I want the 1080p screen, but it is another two weeks before it is supposed to be here. If I swap it for another, I will be without a computer for over a month.
Any ideas or suggestions? I know the 1080p is superior, and hands down worth the extra money, just trying to encounter as little time without a computer as possible.
Thanks very much,
Erick

No one has access to the part number for the 1080p screen for the XPS 15? I want to find out how much it will cost me through Dell, can't find it on their site anywhere.
Thanks! -
There is no FHD (1920 x 1200) Display for XPS 15.

I think he means 1920x1080.
The line on my order states: Display : 15.6" FHD B+RGLED True-Life (1920x1080) with 2.0 Mega Pixel Integrated Camera
230-11716
But I'm not sure if that's a whole display assembly or just the panel. Best just hunting around on google maybe? -
Thanks again for the reply! -
Will this work with my XPS 15? Only thing I could find on Google...

Some questions:
Do these screens have 1080p, or is that only available if you purchase initially from Dell?
They description also says "Matte" is that correct? Is the one that Dell offers Matte as well?
How do each of those screens compare to the 1920x1080 that Dell ships?
Is one better than the other? They are all really cheap, under $100 so I would like to go with the best one available.
Just to make sure: The only other part required to do the screen swap is the ribbon cable, which has the part number provided in that thread - correct?
Thanks again! That link was exactly what I was looking for!

Coming from a 720p display, you will need that cable. All the information you need is in that thread...a couple of sources are mentioned (look for barlow00). It's a lot more than $100 though...and any site that says they have it for $100 is selling you a "compatible" display...meaning it ISN'T the same quality, just a generic 1920x1080 panel. Buyer beware, but if you can get your hands on one you won't be disappointed. -
Thanks for that information.
Do you have a link to the site you used to order your AUO?
The only difference with the AUO vs. the Dell FHD screen is that it's not glossy, right?
Thanks again.

Hey what do you think about this screen?
BrinVO.com - AUO 15.6" B156HW01 V.7 HD Laptop LCD Panel Screen New
Says it's a "AUO 15.6" B156HW01 V.7 HD Laptop LCD Panel Screen New" but it doesn't say anything about 1080p, just HD.
$132, $152 shipped to me...
This is to good to be true, right?
Sorry for all of the questions, I just don't want to order the wrong screen, that would suck! -
You've got a PM...
