yo people im out for a laptop and the xps seems down my street....
i knw the l502 is newer but what are the differences? i cant seem to find them anywere.

plus im looking to buy a laptop from the outlet but all of the screens are 720p which is a bummer. do you think 1080p screens are put up their often? or can i find someway to get them to install the 1080p screen for me?

all the outlet leptops are l501 so thats why i need to know the difference.
    thanks

All the screens are 720p because people return them for laptops with 1080p panels.

Since the L502 just started shipping a couple weeks ago, it will probably be a few more weeks before you start seeing them in the Outlet and again you will likely see more 720p screens than 1080p screens.

The L502 processors seem to be a bit faster and get a bit better battery life although they do run hotter than their comparable L501 brethren. The video cards are nearly identical, with the L502 cards having a small edge in performance due to their slightly higher frequencies.

Sandy Bridge offers higher clock speeds, turbo speeds. Quad core i7s now have integrated graphics. They improved the idle power. Also they moved to the GeForce 5x0 series GPUs.

You should probably try aiming at a R2, the battery lasts a lot longer under same condition. GPU difference is minimal, but better is better.

Screen swap is something relatively easy, the hard part is getting the right screen and in xps 15's case, the right cable. You could check out teh "official swapping the xps 15 screen thread" here somewhere for more info(google it).

Yes. Only the guts (CPU/mobo/GPU) changed as far as I know.
