I was wondering if anyone had this. When I boot up, I get the Windows logo animation then the welcome message. The screen fades to a blank blue screen and then the desktop appears.

When I shut down, the screen flickers as it goes through its shutdown process but sometimes during this, I get messages that flashup really quickly that I can't read them, all in quick succession. Then the laptop closes down.

    Adv thx for any feedback.

The blue might be the color of the desktop underneath the wallpaper.

What sort of messages? Are they part of the shutdown screen or are they message box-type things?

Thanks. Actually its not a blue screen - I thought it was - its a black screen which makes you think the system is about to go down but then the desktop comes on. And the black screen fades in, before fading out.

The messages flash up too fast to figure out what kind they are. Have considered videoing it then pausing it! I think the messages are not always the same either. Most times I get them when I shutdown (end of each day), sometimes not.

Also now getting Windows 7 saying "IE has stopped working due to a problem in the program - Windows is looking for a solution". But then IE doesn't actually crash or stop. I just carry on working with it. I have IE8 and only started getting this message about 2 weeks after getting the laptop. I don't know if any of the Windows updates I had applied since then has anything to do with this.

Could the shutdown message be Windows applying patches it's downloaded that day?

I guess what I'm asking is, are the messages "built in" to the shutdown screen, or is some box popping up and going away?

The messages are just too quick to fathom whether they are patches or part of the shutdown screen, I can't even tell if they are in boxes as its just too quick, but my guess is that they aren't part of the closedown process/screen.

It may be to do with something that is conflicting etc with the system and I haven't downloaded a correct driver/update or whatever. Other than that laptop is working ok so far.
