I'm considering either a XPS 15 or a DV6tqe but there are no XPS 15 w/ 1080p screen near Lancaster PA for me to check out AFAIK.

So would anyone be willing for me to check out your xps 15 with the 1080p screen?

    Thanks!

Or does anyone know a brick and mortar that has the XPS 15 with the 1080p screen?

Check out xps 15 threads, 9 out of 10 posts will tell you the screen upgrade is worth every single penny you spend.

The 1080p screen they use is one of the best in its class.
The 720p screen they use is one of the worst in its class.

Thanks for the summary. Yeah I would definitely get the 1080p screen on the xps15 so the debate is more between the DV6tqe with a less resolution screen (which I've seen in person) or the xps 15 with 1080p

Windows has a setting that lets you increase the size of text and UI elements on the 1080p screen if you have trouble seeing things.

However, I run 1920x1200 in a 15.4" display (which makes stuff even smaller) at the standard setting, and I have no issues reading everything. I even used 2048x1536 in 15" on my old laptop and never had trouble with it.

My 1920x1200 display is RGBLED, which is similar to the XPS 15's B+RGLED display, so I know for a fact that the XPS 15's 1080p display will look amazing compared to the HP.

The XPS 15 is generally a much better computer than the HP DV6. It's got a nicer outer construction (aluminum lid rather than plastic). I've never recommended the HP DV6 to anyone but I've recommended the XPS 15 to a lot of people. Also, the speakers on the XPS 15 are awesome.

The 720p screen is not worse than average, in fact many manufacturers asus this same screen like asus' G51 line.

Not that the screen isn't bad, but definitely not worse than others.
If you want really bad screens, the budget sony's are hard to beat.. but everything else is about the same quality.

Thanks man, yeah I've heard awesome things about the speakers and screen, but according to reviews the XPS 15 was pretty chunky. Then again I don't know if my definition of chunky matches the reviewers.

I really did like the construction of the DV7 I had last but had to return it by no fault of HP(i5 460m couldn't handle HD video in Sony Vegas without lagging). But maybe the xps 15 would be even better!
