Hi i received my XPS 15 L502x a week back and have been busy putting it through its paces.

Basically i noticed that all of my benchmark tests were below average, either compared to the results of other forum users or review websites.

3dmark06 (stock clocks with stock drivers): 8050~8150

    Cinebench R11.5 (64-Bit): 4.12 pts

    SuperPi Benchmark for 32M: 11m 22s

Would it be possible for me to give dell support a ring and arrange for a replacement? Seems my CPU & GPU are under performing for some reason. I'm under 3 year warranty & CompleteCover.

I doubt they'll replace it based on benchmarks, but you could certainly call them to see what they think, since they'd be the ones decided that.

Dell has a hardware diagnostic you can run off a USB drive that will test all of your hardware.
If there isn't an actual problem with the hardware, it is iffy if they will replace it. How is your Windows setup? Recent drivers?
How is it in games/applications? If performance is good there then there isn't a problem.

I think you must check temps (while testing) maybe you are some kind of throttling.

Did a clean reinstall of Windows 7. Drivers are all off the utilities CD that came with the laptop.

Game performance wise i'm getting 15~ fps on Assasin's Creed 2:Brotherhood on very modest settings and around 20~ on GTA4 (everything @ medium)

Tried to convert some movies to my portable media player and i honestly dint see any improvement in conversion rate as compared to my E6700 CPU (Asus C90s laptop).

Are you sure you aren't using the IGP instead of the GPU?

In the NVIDIA Control Panel there is an option to force it to use the GPU in specific games or programs. You can also see what the default for each program is.

He is only 150 points off in 3dmark06, he's definitely using the gpu. When I test without ac power, I usually get 6500, an indication that the gpu isn't active to save power, or some other hardware acceleration is being disabled either due to lack of ac power, or to save power.

Might be kind of a dumb suggestion, but have you checked your power settings?
