Did anyone else get the Advanced Care Warranty, partly under the impression that it came with Lojack for Laptops?

This is the image that is now used: http://i.dell.com/das/dih.ashx/314x314/images/global/products/314x314/xps_advanced_lojack.jpg

But when I ordered, it had an additional item: Lojack for Laptops. And when I talked to the salesperson, he said that he confirmed that it did come with Premium Lojack for Laptops.

Order support is closed for the weekend so I can't confirm yet. Also it turns out that there's this American Airlines/Dell sweepstakes (via DellUniversity.com) that will give you a $75 coupon for use in the EPP segment. So I'm going to call and threaten to cancel my order.

Okay, I confirmed that it was a mistake. I ended up canceling and reordering using the aforementioned $75 coupon.

Quick tip: If you try to cancel your order, they will offer you the chance to keep your order for $100 off, then if you refuse that, $200 off. Though I don't know what factors go into deciding what to offer whom, so keep that in mind.

I'd imagine the main factor is the order's total - Therefore, how much was your configuration worth when they offered you such discounts?

Some sellers on Ebay'u used to sell DELL notebooks with preinstalled Microsoft Office (no CD). I've purchased XPS 1645 with Office 2007 Enterprise Edition. However I haven't received any CD (which was expected) neither COA or other proof of purchase. Is such program legal or I need something else (receipt, COA) together with it?

I have one more question (sorry if it was answered before - it's hard to find it here) - what should be average CPU temperatures during IDLE (Internet, music, Office etc)? Configuration is: i7-720QM, Ati 5730, Full HD Screen (not RGB). I already changed thermal paste (for Arctic Silver 5).

You should really make a new thread for this or, for the latter case perhaps, search the forum.

DakkonA, I know you're big on this Lojack thing. I've seen ads on this site for Lojack and checked it out. It's only $100 for a premium 3 year coverage. Is there a reason why you wouldn't buy it after getting the laptop? I don't think I would get it, as crime is one of the lowest in the country where I am, and no one touches this laptop but me.

Also, $1950 before taxes? What did you get, a 10 year warranty?

No, it was just convenient. Haha I guess. This was the first config I did back on 2/23, when there was very little in the way of discounts available. My (hopefully) last reorder on 3/19 didn't even list it as an option, so I may add it on afterward once I'm sure whatever the incompatibility was is fixed.

Tax depends on where you live. In the USA it's called tax. I think in Europe, they call it VAT, for Value Added Tax or something like that. In the USA, it depends on the State, County, and City you live in, as they all tax at a different rate. Where I live, tax is 8% of the total. I know cities that charge 10%, and cities that charge 5%. All depends on where you live. In the US, if Dell doesn't have a license to sell in a state you live in, they may not even charge you tax.

Dakkon, I'm still waiting on the unit I ordered 22 Feb with LoJack. This is getting annoying.

That's a real pain--I feel for you. I'd definitely try to get a big discount out of them for your trouble. The customer service reps may not have any idea--I wonder if you can get them to transfer you to an actual engineer? It'd probably take some doing though, if possible at all. The one I just ordered on the 19th without Lojack is apparently going to ship this weekend.

I posted this question in another topic. It was moved here (actually I couldn't even find it..).

I searched the forum but couldn't find information about what I've asked..
