Bought the XPS 15 in December. My first laptop. Just wondering what I can/should do to keep it running like new. I'm not talking about the OS and software, but the upkeep of the hardware.
Are there any filters that need replacing or cleaning? How best to keep it running cool? Thank you.

Use LCD screen cleaner to clean the screen. Always vacuum the the intake and exhaust ports. Never use air duster to spray inside the base. Windex (without ammonia) works fine for me on everything else. Just damp the cloth and wipe the keyboard and surfaces down. I've been doing this to my inspiron 6000 for 6 years and it still looks brand new, and it's been powered on for at least 4 years total out of those 6. Make sure the computer is off and batter/power outlet is not connected when doing all this.

i find that the base gets/looks dirty pretty easily because it's black. just clean it every once in a while with a damp cloth like noSlow5oh said.

also, the 1080p screen is rather bright on its full brightness so i turned it down a little which hopefully should let it live a bit longer.

i take out the battery when im using it on the desk and try to rely mostly on the power cable. this lets the battery live longer because they have a limit on the # of recharges. the bios' option that allows u to turn off charging is broken (for me at least)

finally, this one is a bit extreme, but since i mostly use my laptop at home, i just use my external monitor, keyboard and mouse as if the laptop were a desktop. this keeps ur palmrest and keyboard clean (since ur not using it ) xD
