I have an XPS 15 (L502x). I'm sure I'm not the first person who has wondered about this: when I connect my external USB mouse (99% of the time), I press the button to the right of the power button (the icon has 2 cogwheels), and there is an option in there to turn off the touchpad. When you turn it off, an orange light turns on above the touchpad which is really cool.

However, I can't find a way to do this permanently (as in, off until I turn it on again by going into the options).

For the record, yes, I know the usual option in Mouse Settings to turn off the touchpad when an external mouse is present. This option is NOT in the settings (perhaps related to the light above the touchpad/ special firmware).

    Any ideas?

Anyone? How do you disable the touchpad permanently instead of having to go into the Windows Mobility System by pressing the key on the keyboard when an external mouse is connected? (L502x)

Wow you guys are geniuses, thank you so much! I didn't know Dell moved to this type of physical deactivation.
