    Hi all,

I'm deciding between the XPS 15+tablet and the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro... the Yoga 2 is at Best Buy, but I really need to play with the XPS 15 before I can decide. Does anyone know where I can find one in Vancouver, Canada? Or, in worst case, does anyone in Vancouver have one that they wouldn't mind letting me have a look at or something?

    Thanks :)

Dell is currently experiencing delays in production of the XPS 15 Touch. At a minimum, there have been issues with Sharp's ability to ship its new IGZO displays on a predictable schedule. Do not expect to see demo models in stores until mid January or so.

Generally speaking, however, it isn't targeted at the Yoga series, but rather the retina MacBook Pro. Although the XPS 15 does have a touchscreen, it would likely overheating issues if Dell had enabled it to have a tablet mode. Lenovo got around the overheating risk primarily by limiting the max Wattage of the system.

In brief, if tablet capability is more valuable to you than raw computing horsepower, get the Yoga. Only consider the XPS if you need a non-Apple MacBook Pro equivalent.

Thanks. I'm not too worried about the tablet or lack thereof, more just space and screen size. If I got an XPS, I'd get a spare tablet to run around with. It's just a question of what's more useful for my work between the Yoga and the XPS, since work is most likely to be done in laptop mode.

Good to know re delays, but I don't think Canada is getting XPS 15s at all on demo, lol. Hence the problem...

From the early reports, folks are pleased with the keyboard on the XPS 15, though some have noted that key travel is a bit shallow. The most common complaint with this model is that users with good hearing report a high pitched whining, normally only when the battery is fully charged. A lot of electronic devices emit this kind of noise, but it would seem that at least some XPS 15s are obnoxious in this regard.

Other users have complained that the QHD+ display is poorly supported by software vendors like Adobe.

Overall, however, users report being impressed with the power and portability this laptop brings to bear.

Thanks. I've been reading through the owners' lounge, and had heard some of the same. I think the biggest question for me is screen real estate. But I've just asked and the scaling is at 200%, same as on the Y2P, so that means there should be the same amount of screen space if I'm not mistaken, just bigger on the XPS 15.
