    Hey guys,

I'm from Germany, so excuse me if my english is not so good.
I'm looking for a new XPS15 and i need help with my configuration. I am very thankfull for every kind of advice.

Mainly i will use this notebook for multimedia (movies/music) and surfing on the internet.
But still i want to be able to play some games like CS and some newer ones.
I defently want the FHD screen, but i'm not sure if the 420m is good enough for playing counter-stike, world of warcraft on high resolution(1080p)?!

    Intel® Core™ i5-560M (2.66 GHz,3M)
    Windows® 7 Home Premium 64bit
    LCD 15.6 Full HD B+RGLED TL (1920x1080) 1080p
    4.096 MB Dual-Channel DDR3 SDRAM mit 1.333 MHz [2 x 2.048]
    500-GB-SATA-Festplatte (7200 1/min)
    1GB nVidia® GeForce® 420M GT -Grafikkarten (Wireless N1000 Card Only)

This configuration costs 991 Euro and I'm almost at my absolute limit.
Shall I change something or is this allright?

    I'm glad for every advice

    Thank you

You're not going to be able to max out World of Warcraft at 1080p. You might be able to get away with just medium though. Counter-Strike should be fine.

    I don't know about that...

    I had a M4500 with a Quadro FX 1800M (Basically a GT 335M) and I could max out WoW at 1920x1080. The 420M is in-between a 330M and a 335M as far as power goes.

Thanks for your fast answer. Are 4 Gb Ram enough?
    I also have the opportunity to use the Intel® Core™ i7 740QM (1.73 Ghz, 6MB, 4C with 2GB nVidia® GeForce® 435M GT.
Or is my above configuration better than this(because of optimus)?

I just recently RMA'd a Vaio E series. It had a Radeon HD5650 and I was able to play WoW at 1080p with settings on good/high. I had about 20-25fps with vertical sync on, and 45-60fps with vertical sync off. So you should be able to get a consistent 30fps+ in WoW with the 420M if you tweak the settings (and turn off vertical sync).

I'm stoked, I was able to RMA the Vaio due to ear-splitting CPU noise. Waiting on some reviews for the XPS 15 but I'll likely just order one next week regardless.

thats a good idea roninmagik, but why do u need a backlight keyboard if you know where the keys are? :D
I still have a question about my config? is it allright like this?
Or am i better of buying a barebone(clevo) from mysn or deviltech?
