Just a couple Q's
1) How nice is the B+RG LCD screen? Why is it called B+RG? Is this B+RG screen nicer then the Radiance screen on the 14.5" envy 14?
2) Does Optimus only come with the 420 GPU because on the XPS 17 it says optimus next to the 435 and the 445 listed doesnt carry it, so for some reason is optimus only available for the lower option GPU on each xps?
3) the Ram options say the memory is shared does that mean the graphics cards don't have their own memory and the RAM is shared with the graphics card as well?
4) Hypothetically speaking if I got the 435 GPU and optimus wasnt available how much battery life could i expect from the 6 cell? how about the 9 cell?

1. The screen is damn nice. B+RG is supposed to mean Blue+Red/Green (so red/green pixel together next to a blue pixel) but it's really just a good RGBLED.
2. Optimus would work with 435m, but you can't get 435m without i7, and i7 doesn't have integrated graphics, so it won't work with i7. So basically, your only choice is i5 with 420m if you really want optimus.
3. Discrete GPUs have their own memory (1gb in 420m, 2gb in 435m) but integrated graphics use the RAM (someone correct me if I'm wrong).
4. Battery life probably wouldn't be too bad, even without integrated. I've ran the laptop with optimus turned off (discrete only) for a while, battery life wasn't incredibly lower, but the fan did ramp up a little. I'd estimate around 2-3 hours with 6-cell, 3.5-4.5 with 9-cell, but that's just a guess. -
This laptop does impress me seems gt 420 is maybe 5% slower then the gt 335 but adds dx 11 support so all in all thats decent performance considering the m11x uses the gt 335 and runs most games so the gt 420 should be able to run most games especially if u run them at the lower rez and if you OC the 420.
My roommate wants a new laptop but isnt in a rush and doesnt know much about comps. Ill probly sell him my sexy envy 14 and get a sandy bridge xps 15 when they come out. I'm very impressed with this line.
