hey i am in the market to buy a new laptop. As the title would suggest i am confused between both the laptops.

    The specs are
processor : i7 740 (SB will take atleast 2 more monts and i cant wait till then)
HD : 500 GB or more

I am not a addictive gamer (but do play game sometimes). I would use it as workstation. My priority are good screen, build quality, looks, durability.

I know some of the pro's and cons of xps 15 as compared to M4500.
    Like
pro : USB 3.0, better speakers
cons : has to be build quality and looks

What i dont know is how would the B+RG LED display stack up against the display of M4500 which is supposed to be very good. Also how good are the speakers of M4500.

And as a whole which system would be better.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

If you're wondering/worried about the speakers on the M4500, then you should probably stick with the XPS 15. But it looks like you already have a system like the XPS 15, so why are you ordering a new one?

You aren't gonna be getting a better performing system than the one you have. i have nearly the same laptop as you and my brother has the 740 and its basically the same as mine.

If you want a better performing system then i would suggest waiting for a Sandy Bridge.

Actually i am configuring the laptop for my brother.

I would take SXPS 16 over XPS 15 any day of the week. But they aren't available.

I guess i would probably stick with xps because of its speakers and usb 3 support. My only fear is that i would end up owning that laptop and he would take my sxps as he is so found of my laptop.

SXPS not available? I thought they're still in stock. I chose XPS 17 over SXPS because of the price. I'm unwilling to pay 150 pounds more for a worse Graphic card but a better monitor. But discounting price, SXPS is a nicer machines than the xps.
That said, if you're not urgent, wait for the new SB. I bought my XPS 17 two weeks ago, and that's only because I cannot wait till march/april for it. If only my fujitsu burn itself two months later...

With the considerable heat issue of the SXPS, I would aim for the L501x anyday if I wanted 15". But as you pointed out that the monitor is better on the SXPS 17", the decision isnt as clear cut.
