XPS 15 vs. XPS 16

Dell are currently offering to replace my old studio 16 with a fairly top spec model. *see below*. Should I accept this? Or alternatively I can wait until the studio 16 is discontinued (I'm in the UK - should be soon!) meaning I will be eligible for an XPS 15/17... To be honest, one of my favourite features is my backlit keyboard... Which currently isn't offered in the UK!
There is a whole tonne of info now on the XPS 15/17, but no direct comparisons to the XPS 16.

Would really appreciate anyone's views!

seems a great swap.....quad core and rgb screen....cool specs..
grab it....xps 15 untested...seems people are getting some issues already...

 

That's what I'm beginning to think...
Instinct tells me to go for the latest I can get though...

 

i'd jump all over that, you're getting semi-future proof (for at least another 6 months ) i7 processor, upgrade hdd, and the constantly craved rgbled. almost seems to good to be true.

my specs weren't quite as good to start with, so I don't know what the equivalent would be on the XPS 15... i5? i7?
they still haven't stopped production of the SXPS 16 in the UK... getting rather fed up waiting now! guess it'll be worth it in the end though!

 

The i5 is closer to, though still better than, the C2D. However, the 420 would be a step down GPU wise, so I'd think you can talk them up to an i7 in order to get the 435.

 

now to wait for a the discontinuation of the XPS 16, and the inclusion of the backlit keyboard with the XPS 15...
Did anyone have any luck with Dell when complaining about not receiving the backlit keyboard?

I've given up hope on the UK.

By the time we see backlit in the UK, Sandy bridge will probably be making it debut and we in the UK will have to wait again before we get that upgrade as well .

Dell have said they don't mind how long I wait before requesting the replacement... I've said that I can't do it now because I'm overburdened with work (student).
My warranty has expireda couple of days ago, and they are still happy to replace it! SO may as well wait as long as possible for the new one as I'm getting a years warranty with it!

Dell have now offered me an XPS 17 as I said i wanted to wait...

With the terrible screen resolution I don't want an XPS 17. Either I go for the 15, or stick with the 16...
Looking on the website, the 16 is about £200 more expensive, but the 15 come with better speakers, and USB 3...

Any thoughts....??!
