I'm not sure if there's been any comprehensive comparisons or reviews on this forum yet, but how is the XPS 17's screen quality compared to the XPS 15's B+RG screen?

I'm sure they are both "nice" but I want a definitive answer as to which one is better, and if the difference is significant. I can only seem to find reviews on the XPS 17 3D screen. There's not many reviews about the non-3D 1080p screen of the XPS 17.

15's is better. That said, the 17's matte screen is nice, but everyone agrees the 15's FHD is one of the best screens on the market aside from IPS ones.

They are both nice. The xps 15 screen is the best 15" dispay avaible. The 3D screen is the best 17" display available (although the B173HW01 v4 display should be better for professional printing).

Aside from IPS screens of course. But those set you back €550 each...

But remember: an high gamut is an disadvantage for web developping and only really useful for high-end printing. Depending on what you do, the 'best'screen in specifications may not be the best choice.

It fell to page 7, but there's the XPS 17 L702x - WLED AG 1080p (non 3d): Could you please share your experience thread.

General consensus is that the XPS 15 B+RG 1080p is the best screen Dell has to offer while the XPS 17 non-3d 1080 has a lot of mixed reviews, but most agree that the AntiGlare Matte display does it's job, but the trade off is that the colors aren't as bright/vivid, lower contrast, and has a bluish tint.

Sorry, I am missing the connection here. Can you elaborate a bit?

    Thanks.

I think the idea he meant, what you see color wise, is most likely not what most people see due to their lower quality monitor. So you basically have to compromise to get close to the colors you want them to see.

I haven't seen the XPS15, but from my experience with my XPS17, it's the best screen I have ever used. Colors are very accurate and it's not overly bright.

I'll pass on a super bright screen any given day for a darker image with deep, accurate colors.

I use a 24" Asus as my primary monitor and I wish I would of spent more money for a LED or something more comparable to the 17", but for the money I spent on my monitor, I can't complain.

Don't mean to be a broken record, but I prefer the 3D screen over the 15's B+RG Screen. But the B+RG is superior to both the non-3D and obviously the crappy 900p displays.

The best display I've ever seen was the Studio XPS 16 RGBLED display, it was amaazziinng!

Yea, it is frinkin' "amaazziinng" :D . It's so bright and vibrant that I have to run it at about 60% the full brightness, and even then it beats out most other laptop displays. I'm so lucky to have one. As to Juanderful, unless you completely don't care what size of laptop you're getting, I'd base my decision more on whether I wanted a 15" or a 17" screen. The XPS 15's B+RG screen should be better, but I doubt the XPS 17's full HD screen would be that much worse.

P.S. You've been creating a lot of threads lately. Don't you think one thread would have been sufficient for all your questions? Lol.

the B+RG screen looks better to me. they are both nice screens but the colours look dull and faded on the 17.

Haha me? The only bad question is one not asked. So I think I'll just create a thread called "All of Travbjorks Questions!" :)

You just have to calibrate them or download a color profile from the forum here. It makes a huge difference. I HATED the 900p screen until I calibrated it. Night and day.

Yeah, I've been jumping around trying to decide what type of laptop I want recently, and questions keep popping into my head. I'm someone who really wants to make the right decision the very first time :D. Anyway, I decided to go with the XPS 15, as that makes most sense for me atm. I'd probably go with a M17x R3 if I went with a 17" laptop.

P.S. Thanks for all the responses guys! Makes me feel better about sticking with the XPS 15.

It is incredibly annoying to work on a wide-gamut monitor working with normal-gamut stuff. Windows color management sucks.
You may think an color profile solves it. But not always. Windows explorer is, for instance, not color managed... I heard quite a lot of bad things about wide-gamut monitors for web developers and certainly wouldn't recommend one. Well, i would because there isn't a single laptop apart from the xps 15 with an decent 15.6" screen in Netherlands that isn't al least twice as expensive. Except some clevo models.

Oddly enough I was looking to buy a computer for the wife today. I started looking at inspiron 15's with I3 and I5 processors coming in around 700 bucks but then I found a good deal on the XPS15 for only 200 more with a I7 2630QM. I added it to my cart, sent it to my rep, he added the backlit keyboard and the FHD B+RGLED scene for only 159.00 more. All in all the total is about 1050 bucks. Very happy with the screen choice.
