XPS 15, worth the $100 upgrade from i3 to i5?

upgrade from i3-370m to i5-460m worth it?

    Is the difference very notificable?

Like do games run faster, application open faster, tasks are done faster? Or there is little to no difference?

I am ordering XPS 15 and want to know if its worth the $100

    Thanks.

You get the turboboost with the i5 series...I'd say that the jump is worth it.

There's no question that the i5 is faster... The question is, do you NEED that extra speed? I'd save $100 if it was me... but can you even get i3 on a XPS 15? Which country are you ordering it from?

Most people dont even think about the i3. They just debate between the i5 and i7.

I'd say get the i5 but the difference won't be very noticeable for the stuff listed.

Application open speed and response time is based on Operating System, HDD/SSD speed, and Memory speed, and not processor at all really since it won't be the bottleneck.

The GPU will be the bottleneck for games, especially if its the 420M. Processor won't really matter.

"Tasks" is pretty general. Stuff like encoding a HD video will be faster with the i5 for sure.

I used to have a guinea pig! it was cute :)
anyway you can think of that extra $100 as $5/month over the course of 2 years. Youll be using that laptop for at least that long
