I followed the Bloatware removal guide on my new XPS laptop and I forgot that it came with a free year of Lojack protection. I did not register it with Lojack before the reformat. Is there a way to do that now? I have found a couple threads but nothing is definite. Thanks...

I don't believe you can delete Lojack, its not on your HD. Dell imbeds it on the motherboard. That's a safeguard so that a thief can't replace your HD and evade detection.

That being said, I would just take physical precautions and not accept the Lojack option. Too late for you, but a word of caution to future orders.

he didnt delete lojack. he just didnt activate it (originally, with the default system OS, there are icons on the desktop for you to activate the stuff u've bought(Mcafee, Lojack...)... he reinstalled everything w/o activating those stuff

also, @OP,u might have a lojack CD... if not, calling dell up is the only way

I contacted Dell and the person I spoke with wasn't a lot of help. They kept saying to use the icon on the desktop or the link in the all programs folder. I tried to explain that it was not there. They said Lojack is located in the BIOS. I said I know that but the desktop and the all programs are not in the BIOS. I guess i will try again later. BTW there was no icon on the desktop from what I remember. If it's going to be a huge hassle I will just not activate it.

Have you tried looking on the LoJack website, perhaps for an activation page or such like?

Also did you receive any documentation regarding LoJack? Perhaps containing a serial number etc.
