Hey, i was reading a few other posts about idle temps of the GPU in the XPS 1530 and my temps are way above what everyone else is getting. I have an idle GPU temp of approx 80-88 degrees celsius. I mean i could maybe expect that under a heavy load, but an idle temp??? The fan seems to be on all the time.

What could be causing this to be so high??

    Thanks for the help

Cleaning out your fan and vents would be a start. Main reason for overheating is usually dust. Try that out first and see if your temps lower.

Check to make sure that there's a thermal pad or something between the heatsink and GPU so that your GPU dissipates heat into the heatsink. A Dell tech replaced my motherboard but forgot to put in a thermal pad, so I got temps that were about as high as the one's you're getting now.

Would just spraying all the vents/holes around the bottom of the m1530 with compressed air help lower temps, or is it necessary to open up the laptop to clean out all the dust?

I've got pretty high temps as well, GPU 73 CPU 66-70 when just browsing the internet...
