I just opened up my XPS 1530's small panel that has the three PCIe slots. One is for WiFi, which is currently occupied by a Intel WiFi Link 4965 card, the next slot is open, and has the letters WWAN printed below it, which I assume means it's for a Verizon, Sprint or AT&T Cellular card, and the last one has the letters UWB, which I have no idea what that stands for.

    I have three questions:

First, all of the slots have the same number of Pins, in the same positions. Therefore, are they all three basic PCIe x1 slots?

Second, if that's the case, can I put in let’s say a PCIe based SSD card & an Intel Turbo Memory card? Or two PCIe based SSD cards, or two Intel Turbo Memory cards?

Third, since the Intel WiFi Link 4965 is two generations old, could I put in the last generation Intel WiFi Link 5300 & 5100 cards? Or what about the current Intel WiFi/WiMAX Link 5150 or 5350 cards?

One question I still have is about the 5350, it says it uses a PCIe interface for the WiFi Link, and a USB 2.0 interface for the WiMAX Link. Do they both run off of the standard PCIe laptop connection?

Also, it looks like the Intel Turbo Memory won't really do much for my system since the Intel PM965 chipset only supports 1GB of the Turbo Memory, and they say that you should only use it if you have the same amount of physical memory, which I don't, I have 8GB of DDR2-667, so it probably wouldn't make a difference.

I'm still going to look into hooking up two PCIe SSD cards, does anyone know if the ICH8M allows RAID via PCIe?

This would replace your current wifi card in its bay.
As for the raid arrangement with SSD cards I have no idea on that one ...
