My xps 1530 has HORRIBLE backlight bleed. I asked for a replacement and again horrible backlight bleed. I'm just asking and hoping that this isn't just me.

haha we have different screens though. If not, I'll ask for another one, but it's extremely horrible top and bottom.

When i had my 1530 i had terrible backlight bleed. It was one of the main reasons for me returning it. But man, i sure do miss that video card.

apparently LED's aren't lit from behind, but are from the sides and reflected across the screen... perhaps that's why the backlight is so horrible

    Hey there,

I don't have the LED on my 1530...But, if had a problem like this I would call up Dell and insist on another replacement (as others suggested, be sure to have photos ready of the b. bleed).

The screen is the main thing, you will be looking at while you are on your lappy. So, it should not have any imperfections, and you should have a nice ~ sharp view! ;) :) (just my thoughts)... :)

Good luck, and let us know the results! ;)

    Cin ;) :)

but that doesnt always work. i dont have led lighting but i did go through 6 screens and all of them were just as bad as the one before it.. they are "just that way" now according to dell so live with it now and they refuse me another screen period.

CHI MEI OPTOELECTRONICS (the brand Dell supposedly uses for the LED LCDs) is not an LCD manufacturer, they manufacture LEDs.

They most likely take an off the shelf panel, remove the CCFL tubes, install their own LED backlight and re-package the panel.

There are only about 5 companys worldwide that manufacture comercial LCD panels, all of the other companys (RCA, HP, ect.) just take panels that were rejected from the original manufactures (do to too many burnt/stuck pixels) and put their logo on it.

    Good luck.

Oh wow, I was not aware of that.

My company uses Chi Mei LEDs in alot of our LCD panels that we re-package for military applications. Interesting how I don't see LEDs as one of there core technologies on that site.
