I've noticed this problem with other laptops besides my new Dell but with the other laptops I've had I would be able to press a little LCD toggle once or twice to turn on/enable the screen, with my XPS I've had this common problem once already, what is an easy fix? besides restarting or putting it to sleep/wake ?

At first glance, this sounds like a classic driver problem. Try to get the latest drivers from laptop video 2 go for your nvidia.

Well, I don't know if its a driver issue, but new nVidia drivers came out yesterday I believe & the ones I'm using arent very old, but... we'll see.

Well, I'm just offering some advice. I had an issue with the built in Dell drivers that when SLI was on, and my lid was closed, and i lifted it, the screen wouldn't turn on, and i had to close the lid once more and lift it again. Went away with non-dell drivers, funny enough :)

Roll back your wifi n drivers to the stock Dell one for the 1530. That's your problem. I had the same problem before, after I upgraded the Intel drivers to some other version (Intel's web site) and started having this issue (not waking up when opening the lid). Problem fixed since I rolled back to the Dell driver.

I did recently update my Intel WiFi Drivers, using Vistas Windows Update because it was offered up, If the problem is persistant I'll try out both solutions, thanks guys.

@jfdube its not a wake up issue, its an issue with the LCD turning on when the lid is lifted, my system is always on.
