I bought my XPS1530 about a year ago. I am impressed with it, i hadnt used a laptop before and now i have tried a few different ones i have decided that the 1280x800 screen could be improved to a bigger resolution. Is it possible to just change the display to a bigger one? or do i need other bits and pieces? The mobo was replaced last week due to a glitchy gfx issue.

my other issue is that if i cant upgrade to another one, where do i buy a replacement one from? it got cracked this morning and has a huge blue line down the middle which has black stuff coming from it.

so basically with regards to the screen, i dont mind fitting one myself, the guides on this forum seem very detailed. but where should i buy one from in the uk? ebay? or is there online shops that provide better value/warranty.

Final question is laptop cooler? worth getting if i am playing some games and stuff as i do notice it gets quite warm at times. I looked into them a bit, and they seem to vary so much in price, £20 up to over £100. whats a good value for money one?

    many thanks

check out these guys http://laptopspares.co.uk/ but they list only approximate prices, 165-245 for screens and you need to call them for a quote.

However, i'm quite sure Dell uses generic connector on ther XPS line, so you might be able to get one off ebay and replace it without a hassle. Let's see what others here have to say))
